I did all that I could to make you stay.
You promised you'd never be far away but now it's 12 a.m. and I'm surrounded by these memories.
What happened to friendship? To loyalty?
You were all I wanted and I wanted you until the end.
I tried and tried but we couldn't make amends.
You grew wings and took flight while I was on the ground, trying to fly with all of my might.
In the end, we weren't meant to be and I've learned you can't keep anything under lock and key.
People weren't meant to be put in chains and feather cages won't keep anyone enslaved.
