kinda long but it's based on the prompt: The Red String of Fate exists, and only some people have the ability to see the strings, and these people can actually cut strings and knot other people's strings in to alter the soulmate laws. Your best friend's wedding is tomorrow and they know you can see the string. They ask you to help them defy the laws of the universe and help them be with the person they love even though they know that's not their soulmate. You know they love each other so much so you help them, even though the person your best friend's marrying/your best friend is your soulmate.

Alyssa walks towards the house of her long time best friend LA Revilla. It was his engagement party, and even though she absolutely hated social events in which she had to pretend she was having a good time, she decided to go anyway, because, not only has she known him for almost half of her life, she was also running out of instant noodles to eat, and she's never been the one to pass up on free food.

She doesn't need to knock on the door since she's visited this house too many times to be considered a casual friend, so she walks right in. As expected, there are plenty of people in the house and it makes Alyssa sick.

"betsfriend!" Someone has their arm around her shoulders and if it was anyone other than him than maybe Alyssa would have kicked them in the balls by now.

"huy, how's the party?" She asks.

"okay naman. Look, alam kong ayaw mo ng social gatherings right? pero atleast try to have a good time. Please? for me?"

"oo na." she swipes his arm off her shoulder, LA just laughs since he knew That aside from being social, she also hated physical contact. She was a total "germaphobe." as LA would say. Which seemed like a totally absurd name in her opinion.

LA shuffles and scratches the back of his neck, which made Alyssa suspicious because he wasn't leaving her alone yet.

"bestfriend, umm, diba nakikita mo yung strings?"

Alyssa rolls her eyes because he knows that she can. She's one of the few people who could.

You see, the red strings of fate were what determined who you would be with. It intertwined your fate with other people's. It's kind of like a soulmate thing, If you could see the strings, you were one of the lucky few who would know who your soulmate was. You could intertwine them or cut them as you wished. She didn't know why she was born with it, but she just was.

"you know the answer to that question dumbass."

"so here's the thing, di ako sure if ako talaga yung soulmate ni Den eh, and just to make sure, can you please intertwine ours? I know na sobrang selfish ako for asking this of you, pero please bestfriend, mahal ko talaga siya eh."

LA was pleading, he was pleading, and Alyssa wasn't used to that. He's always been the happy one and this was foreign to her.

Alyssa clutches the hem of her shirt, something she always did when she was nervous or unsure.

Although she's been known to be sort of passive and indifferent around people, she always opened up to LA since they were kids. No secret was left unshared, that's just how they were. But there's  one secret she just couldn't bear to tell him.

Not after she's seen how happy he made her. Not after she helped him get through his father's death.

So Alyssa keeps quiet.

"there you two are!"

Dennise Lazaro kisses him on the cheek before looking at Alyssa. She waves and Ly awkwardly waves back. She never really knew her aside from being his girlfriend, She never really cared to. Attachment was the last thing she needed, because it was only going to hurt more if she knew her personally.
