He needed to get out, needed a break. It was all so suffocating, so constricting. Every glance, every sound amplified by the Captain's senses. His heart was beating a mile a minute, yet the impassive look of nothingness lingered on his face. He swallowed, heavier then normal and with quick strides veered off towards the exit. Once he got outside, the crisp night air nipped at his sweaty skin. A rhythm, that's all this was. The rhythm of his anxiety ever since Umbara. Why? How many others were like him? Who could be trusted? Who was with them? These questions haunted him to the brink of insanity. Rex's wit was prevailing. Even though its layers had been peeled away, slowly and meticulously. It was like watching paint dry. The human eye couldn't catch the liquid slowly starting to dry. They only saw point A and point B. But who said the officer watching was human?

He walked, carelessly. His armor had been removed, therefore he was in regular shoes. The darkness illuminated by the kiss of stars, defiled by the light they produced. Alone he sat brown eyes scanning the night. He was happy he could allude the sympathetic glances from others for now. He was lost in thought, ever spiraling downwards. Darkness with its immortal grip, plagued his mind. A rustle went unnoticed, until a warmth rushed over his skin. His head snapped up meeting the concerned gaze of Commander Tano. "Commander Tano" Rex says masking his surprise going to stand at attention. "At ease" she says "it's it's Ashoka when we're off duty. Rexter you should know this by now". "Sorry Com- Ashoka." Her presence wasn't helping at the moment, but Rex put up with it. "Everything alright?" She asks. "Everything is fine" he replied looking away, trying not to let her beauty catch his eye.

"Right" she replied unconvinced. "Rex look at me" she said gently, yet with a stern undertone. He slowly turned and locked gazes with her, staring into her eyes. She had her eyes locked with his and was talking. About what, He couldn't tell. Hey eyes were memorizing. She seemed to notice this and stopped talking, snapping her fingers. This shook the captain from his state. "Uh sorry commander but I have to go back in." He says quickly standing up and beginning to walk away. "Rex wait!" She says, moving agilely and grabbing his wrist. He froze, as she turned him around and stood on her tippy toes. Her lips locked with his and he was paralyzed. Panic washed over him, yet the sense of longing was gone. He relaxed into the kiss and found himself kissing back. After a few lingering seconds she broke the kiss with a small, gently smile. "Com-" "well there's a first time for everything" she replied with satisfaction in her voice, before she skipped off. "Kriff women are confusing" he murmured.
