I think it's safe to say he had some type of fondness for the 501st and some of the clones who served with Anakin. I mean he did keep the legion close- they became 'Vader's fist' and all. I'm sure this was for professional reasons (the 501st was a very distinguished legion and was considered elite) but I think it was sort of personal as well even if Vader tried to cut off those connections.
Then again there's pleanty of examples where this is false
I mean again I'm sharing a video and I know that it's not really 'canon' anymore (Vader still did horrible things and it's no excuse) but the moment where a clone he served with died for him after saving him was sort of an aw moment for me. Plus he also comments of his fond of Appo he was after he died as well (Appo was promoted to commander of the 501st and lead the attack on the temple, receiving injuries from a padawan but recovering).
