Part one recap: After Fives was killed Rex and Fox gets into a heated argument. Rex ends up punching Fox in the face and Skywalker intervienes before it can escalate. It left off like this:
Part 1:
  The lecture on the way back made him realize that it was wrong... The way he behaved but he didn't regret it.
~~~~~
His actions were unmistakenly wrong and would remain wrong to anyone who was told the story. He shouldn't of reacted out of anger, Fox was merely doing his job. Following orders as all of them had been expected to. They were all made out to be so robotic, not so different from the droids they fought on the battle field. They were soldiers, they weren't supposed to develop minds of their own. They were supposed to die before that happened he realized. But this was not a new realization.
"Rex" Skywalker's voice broke him from his chain of thought almost causing him to collide with the Jedi in front of him as his movement came to a sudden halt. The captain managed to catch himself just before he could walk into his friend. Upon realizing the proximity Rex took a step back giving his apologies. "Sorry General" he stated continuing eye contact despite every urge to advert his gaze.
The jedi's eyes held a certain empathy for his long term friend along with a few other emotions that flashed too quickly for Rex to get a good read of them. "At ease, come on you know better by now".
"Sorry sir I was just-"
"You're wrapped up in your own head" Anakin responded a ghost of a frown tugging on the corner of his lips.
"The situation with Fox shouldn't of happened General" The captain started trailing off for a brief second before continuing. "I could understand the need for disciplinary action. I presume this will more then likely make its way onto a report"
Skywalker gave a snort of disbelief. "I'm not putting you on a report and I'll talk to Fox about it as well. I won't punish you for getting emotional over the loss of a friend. Trust me I feel his loss as well" he admitted voice softening. "He was a good man, a good friend. This is a mess..."
"General I don't think he would lie about that- the way he looked it was as if his whole world fell away at his feet" Rex murmured not wanting anyone potentionally to eavesdrop.
"I" Skywalker started before trailing off at a loss for words momentarily "I know. Everything is all over the place- I'll try to bring it up with the council.  It seems-"
"Crazy" Rex interjected finishing the others sentence. "I know"
"Let's not discuss this here- or now" Anakin says. "I think you could use a drink. Go hang out with the rest of the boys it might do you some good"
The captain hesitantly gave a nod, waiting until he was dismissed to head to the bar as issued. Maybe a drink wouldn't be so bad after all.
---
When he did arrive at the bar Jesse and Kix where the first to badger him. He simply shook his head and called out for the bartender to get him a glass. They quieted after this, their once energetic mood dampening, becoming  solem as the meaning of their captains actions sunk in.
---
A few days later and Rex was back at the bar long after the hours the bar was in operation. He sat alone continuing to take shots. Well paced of course but even the captain could handle so much. He never drunk much, never had a reason to. But this was different. When the door opened he didn't even bother turning to look.
Another male settled in next to him and the bartender greeted him looking a bit surpised. "Hello Commader Fox. What brings you here?"
"I was looking for someone seems I found him" the other replied glancing over at Rex.
The captain tried to ignore him, ignore the anger in his chest. He was successful this time. "What do you want?"
"I was here to talk with you" Fox says with a small sigh, shoulders relaxing as he motioned for a drink. The Commander was being careful, Rex noted glancing over at his companion. He didn't want to start anything and yet he knew Fox wouldn't hesitate to retaliate if something was done to him.
"You want to talk?" The other chuckled the sound dry and humorless. "Well then let's talk. Why did you do it Fox?" He asks a small spark of his anger emerging in his undertone as he posed the question.
"I did as my job entailed. He was acting irrationally, his body language was not one of a rational man. Not to mention he had trapped both his commanding officers and was the only one with access to a weapon"
"He was scared" Rex says emphasizing the emotion despite his
slurred words. "As anyone would be. He was being hunted by his own blood, his own friends, his- his family! We failed him Commander" the clone spat the rank before taking another swig.
"He died with the person my most trusted at his side, he didn't die alone like most of our other brothers. That is not a failure" Fox reminded "I'm sorry. It won't bring him back. I'm sorry for killing him and I'm sorry for what I said. I lost my head- I never- shot a brother before."
Rex snickered "Well guess you're no better then the 501st now Fox" he dismissed, standing up swaying slightly before giving his shoulder a pat. "Bars all yours. Hey Maverick!"  He called "get the commander a drink. Put it on the 501sts tab"
"Yes sir" the clone bartender said slipping out from the back area he had accompanied beforehand
Fox stared at the now filled shot glass in front of him before reaching to take it. The tension had rise remarkably and both men had both started to become more on guard.
"And Fox" the drunken captain added "maybe you shouldn't blindly trust the information given to you". And the match was struck that would lead to a flame winding down to a breaking point once more.
"What are you insuiniating?" The Commander bristled "be mindful what you say Rex, with a mindset like that I might be  forced to shoot you too one day" Fox stated coldly. The other was going to question the word from the Chancelor? The one who had almost been assainated? Who was the real traitor here?
Rex faultered midstep and pursed his lips biting back a reply- to the best of his ability.
"Try it" he challenged "we'll see what happens" and with that the 501st commanding officer left that bar leaving Fox to drink, attempting to convince himself it was the alchohal in the others veins making him say these things. Rex had been loyal throughout this whole war. He wouldn't change heart now would he? This would require some thought and further investigation. For now Fox drank.
A/N (again)
I'm trying really hard not to make Fox seem like a complete villain because he was following orders like he was engineered to do. But you also have to understand emotional tensions are high. People don't know what's going on, why it was happening, what's real. Plus with alchohal involved things are bound to escalate
I don't think he would actually shoot rex at this point in time- maybe later he would've idk
