Flashback... 3 months earlier

"Josh, I don't think I can do this."

"Em, you'll be fine, you've been trained for this, remember?"

"Yes, but what if Earth isn't what they say it is? What if it's changed and no training can prepare me for it. What if..."

"Emilia! Just, stop, okay? You're making this immensely harder on yourself. Just breathe, yeah? They wouldn't send you out if they thought you weren't ready."

"Yeah, of course your right, it's just..."

"I know. My brother experienced the same thing when he went out. He totally freaked out."

"What!? But he looked so calm and collected!"

"Ha-ha, yeah. That's what he wanted everyone to think."

It was 3 months until I was sent to Earth to fulfil my purpose in life. Unfortunately, Josh was right, I had been trained for this my whole life. Well, at least as soon as I showed signs of having two powers. That's how it worked here. Most of us have only one power. Like telepathy, telekinesis, elementary (power over one element). Those people are considered normal on Vaiela. The ones that aren't normal are the ones with no powers, or more than one. The poor Vaielans who have no powers, well, they're put to work. Labour, cleaning, basically serving those of us who are of high importance. That's me. I am especially superior because I have all the powers. Mother did, Mothers father did, mothers fathers father did... etcetera etcetera. Those people who have 2 or more powers are sent to Earth. Why? Good question.Basically it starts like this.

When this planet was first created by only heaven-knows-what, the conditions were right and our race just, came into being. We were very neurologically evolved in the sense that we could access 100% of our minds. Meaning we had special 'abilities' that every other race wished they had. Using these 'abilities', we created a home for ourself. Telepathy to move heavy objects from place to place. Telekinesis to contact several of those around us at the same time if something drastic needed to take place. Elementary to simultaneously lift stones to build castles and houses, control water to make dams and a moat around the castle, and fire to cast light in the new constructions. This all took place under the orders of one man, Castor Vaie. In honour of his intellect we named our planet after him, Vaiela. 700 years passed and the civilians decided there was no more need for our abilities, so they stopped using them, and slowly but surely, the powers faded away. That's why Vaielans with more than one power are extremely rare, and treasured. We also learned we weren't alone in space. There was another planet several million light years away that was called Earth. Some of the most advanced Learners were sent to investigate this planet. They never came back. They sent a message back to us saying that Earth was a beautiful planet, filled with simple creatures who only dream of having the powers we do, and that they intended to stay there for the rest of their lives. It was like an epidemic, Vaielans from everywhere fled to Earth, hoping for a better life, a new life. Not one of them came back. The Society started sending the very few of us left with more than one ability to Earth to bring back the rebels who fled.

It has been 1000 years since them, and still, Vaielans are fleeing to Earth, and Society members are bringing them back.

I have been told my whole life that we are superior to the humans. That they can only access 1/3 of their brain power. Living under my mother and father, the King and Queen, I have been restricted to any and all photos, messages, descriptions and artefacts from Earth. Until the age of 7, when I started training.
