Sisters

October 10thSenior Year.

My last year of high school.

How time flies.

"Will you all settle down please!
Settle down!" Mr. Patt, our school director boomed through the microphone.

The gymnasium was packed with students and committee, all chattering about recent activities. We were all dying to know why us seniors have been called here.

Curiosity invaded my mind as I tried to find a seat on the bleachers. I was finally capable of spotting my friend throughout this enormous crowd.

"Zara! Over here!" Kayla waved. She then pushed the people beside to make sure I saw her.

I gave her a thumbs up and chuckled.
She's always so full of energy! Making my way up the cemented stairs, I was finally able to sit down.

"Why do you think we're here?" She questioned me with wonder.

"I have no idea, but I hope it's good news." I replied to her comment.

The talking began to die down, and Mr. Patt got ahold of the microphone again.

"Welcome Seniors! You all know me as the principal at PineCross High School of Portland, Oregon!"

"Like we didn't know the name of our own school." I muttered to myself.

"Anyways, I have gathered all of you here today to announce a few messages, good and bad." He cleared his throat nervously.

"Let's hope that this assembly makes sense, unlike the last one." I whispered to Kayla.

Last assembly he spent fifteen minutes talking about how the school substituted the cafeteria junk food with healthier options, and it was considered good news to him. I swear, I almost lost my mind that day.

"If he talks about healthy food again, I'm going to throw my binder at his head." Kayla shrugged as she rolled her eyes.

"Oh my gosh, same."

We both started to laugh like idiots because of how much we despised his irrelevant blabbering. He's always been so rude to me, so I wouldn't care less if I laughed at him.

"First announcement. Next week we will have to cancel our school dance due to the teachers who are recommended for the school strike, Monday and Wednesday. An-" He explained reasonably, trying to pursue his sayings but got cut off by booing of students.

"Are you freaking serious?" I stood up from the bleachers, immediately vexed about the situation.

"What the hell is going on?" Kayla exclaimed beside me.

The annual school dance has always been the biggest occasion here at PineCross HS. The fact that the school board had to remove this special day from us made me want to punch them in the nose.

"Okay everyone shut up! If you don't listen to what I have to say then all of you will be attending after school detention! Am I clear?" He said frustratedly as the students became quiet.
