On a flat surfaced rock sits an odd looking wolf, listening to the waves of the shore. He stands up and stretches out his legs. He turns to the left and leaps off the rock, landing in the cool sand.
The odd wolf turns around to see a bumble bee patterned wolf pup running up to him,

"Hey, Mordy, what's taking you so long?" the wolf pup asks, panting.

"Huh, what are you even talking about, Zip?" Mordecai asks, giving the wolf pup a puzzled look. Zip lifts his paw and points to the spot where there is a mysterious wolf sitting on a rock surrounded by sand, "They want to see you." Mordecai gives a thankful nod and lifts his paw, attempting to gently pat Zip's head. Zip ducks his head, snorts, and runs away. The winged wolf studies the figure in the distance. He then proceeds to approach them with caution.
Mordecai looks up at the figure in shock of their appearance. He had never seen a full grown wolf with such a powerful intimidating look. The large brown wolf lowers his head, staring at him. The wolf's amber eyes bore into his. This guy was truly scary looking.

"Are you the Moonlight wolf?"  ask. The wolf's voice was rough and intimidating.

Mordecai tilts his head in slight confusion, "What?" He then glances behind himself. Is anyone watching? What on earth is a Moonlight wolf? He wonders, looking at his black and red wings and talons. The muscular brown wolf laughs,

"Ohhhh, I didn't know someone as odd as you could be nervous you're quite the scary one." The wolf teases.

Mordecai sits straight up, giving the large wolf a furious look, "You're already making fun of me and you never introduced me your name. That's quite rude. I'd watch it ot I were you. I know how to use these things" He responds, in annoyance while unsheathing his talons. The large wolf chuckles "Now, now. I never meant to insult you. My name is Grounder." Grounder sits down and curls his tail around his paws, watching Mordecai closely.
Suddenly, a small blue wolf appears, running to Grounder's side. The small wolf whispers something in his ear. Mordecai stares at them. Who are they? Grounder turns back to Mordecai, "Mordecai, this is my assistant and apprentice, Kai, and she will be helping you on your quest. Your friends are welcomed to come. However, there may be danger lurking. I won't stop you though." Mordecai was stunned for a moment, "What are you talking about?" He questions, frowning. Kai turns to him, "You'll see" She answers. Grounder stands up straight, gazing at him, "This is a serious quest for you."
He had no clue what was going on. Surely this was not good due to the fact that there were new faces in front of him. However, did not wish to argue whatsoever to these unknown wolves or throw multiple questions at them. The hybrid had to be sure if they really needed him. If they didn't ask him in the first place he would not help them at all. What quest does he have to conquer? Was it simple, confusing, or challenging to the core? Will he be able to do it? The veins through his body ran cold as he worried. Don't tell me this is some hunting for food.
How in the world was he going to deal with this? Mordecai quickly sits down, letting out a groan. "Are you sure you have the right guy to do this? I don't think I'm all that special. I'm already weird looking as can be." The hybrid protests, unsure about this situation. Kai looks up at him in surprise, "Well...Grounder, y-you tell him. You know...like why we need him" she insists. Grounder sighs then begins:

It's been a long time since this dreadful wolf has returned. It struck quickly, terrorizing many guards and animals. Its name is Shadoweye; he was sealed in this place called "The Broken Core", it is said in every book that this place has the souls of the weak, strong, and evil. Some souls have the chance to be reborn into something good or bad. However, Shadoweye's soul was good and he was also called something else, until he became something horrifying. Something horrific that nobody could believe was true enough, a monster. Something darkened his heart and his ambition was only power. His brother tried to stop him but it was too late. He then began to quarrel with his brother for the throne after their father passed away. He lost the battle and was soon exiled into the forbidden lands. Until, he was found by his brother again but this time it was different. Instead of fighting, his brother set a trap for him in The Broken Core.

After Grounder finishes, he looks at Mordecai straight in the eyes, "That's why we need you. We believe you can to stop him. There are other forces you aren't aware of as well a certain prophecy."
Mordecai looks at him and nods however, he felt uneasy. Could he really do this? Stop some random villain who may or may not be crazy. To be honest the story sounded a little exaggerated.
"Um, that's nice and all but, do you really believe I can do this? To be frank, the story sounded a little exaggerated and dragged out. No offense" He replies, truthfully. He was starting to believe that Grounder's story was insane.
Grounder gazes up at him and nods "You are destined to young one. We need your help as a bigger threat might be pulling the strings on the shadows."

Mordecai sets himself down on the warm sand beneath him. A white and yellow wolf walks over to him and sits down. He turns his head and sighs.

"Hi...Swift. What are you doing here?"

"Just checking on you that's all. I know it's hard leaving here. But Dash and the others will be with you. He is the eldest even if others aren't supposed to go. We decided that it's best you go as a family. Well without their father, Speed, and I" she reassures him.

"Are you sure? I don't want them getting hurt after all. I don't even know what lies ahead of this island" Mordecai answers with uncertainty.

Swift laughs and lifts her paw to his face. "Now, now you know you'll be fine. Better yet you might find what you are and where you came from. Think about it...your actual blood."

Mordecai sighs once more. He looks up at her with a pained look. "You know family isn't always blood right?"

Swift nods her head in agreement, "Yes, I'm aware of that. Did you forget about this dysfunctional crazy family? An eldest son with horrible jokes, a second son with a weird fascination with birds, a baby brother who is actually normal for now, and you. You're a magical and mythical being from somewhere far beyond here. Don't forget.
Mordecai shakes his head and chuckles "I know...but do you think I'm ready for this?" He asks looking up at her gaze.
Swift takes a long pause. She glances up at the sky then looks down at the sand beneath her paws. "Yes. I believe you are. There's nothing I think can stop you."
