Chapter 7: The Lightfeather Kingdom

      "WHAT!" They all exclaim in surprise. "By my mustard's cheese, I never thought you would ask, Mordy" Zip exclaims in shock. Mordecai gives the small pup a goofy smile, "Zip, did you just say cheese?" He asks. "Yes, yes I did" Zip replies, saying nothing else. "Don't worry I like it too" Mordecai replies, looking around awkwardly. "Okay, can we go... before this gets any weirder" Kai remarks, walking away from them.

      They enter through the pearl white doors of the kingdom. "Wow they are really nice here" Zoom comments with a grin. A Lightfeather wolf drops a white feathered headband on to the pup's head. Princess Aura looks at him and smiles, "Yes they are. I make sure visitors are treated well. Even in these dark times." As they walk into the castle, Mordecai notices something. "Why is that guard sitting on that white pillar with a spear?" Mordecai asks, quietly watching the guard. "Oh, just looking out for enemies" Princess Aura replies "It's been hard since Shadoweye has returned" She says, with a sigh. Mordecai looks at the gray feathered white wolf in sympathy, "Oh is this Shadoweye you are talking about..." He pauses for a moment then speaks again, "That wolf that was at the Elemon village four months ago." She nods, "Yes, that good for nothing beast, he started to attack and harass troops when he came here not too long ago. Oh great he really does have nothing to do does he? Mordecai shakes his head in disgust. "I was able to scare him off, thankfully" Princess Aura laughs.
      They all head towards the throne room. Guards were flying down the open spot in the ceiling. A bright beam of sunlight seemed to pour out of it. Princess Aura walks up to one of the guards and whispers something in his ear.

      "Oh, you must be the Moonlight wolf Prince" the guard states, bowing down to Mordecai.

      Mordecai looks at the guard, "I am?" he questions, showing confusion. The guard turns back at the Princess with a worried look upon their face. Then they continue, "Well...you don't seem very happy about it, are you alright?" Kai walks up to the Lightfeather guard. "Sorry but, it's been kind of hard for him to understand. You know the crazy story and such." "Oh! I'm terribly sorry about that!" the Princess gasps in shock.
      Princess Aura goes to her seat and sits down. She pauses for a moment and looks around. "Hey, um...are you okay?" Mordecai asks, in concern. She had a dumbfounded expression on her face. Princess Aura glances up, "Y-yes I'm fine it's just I don't know what to do or say now..." Kai laughs and turns around "We could maybe have a tour of the castle?" She suggests. "Oh! I didn't even think of that." Aura gasps in shock. "Here let me show you around." She then offers. Aura gets up and goes into the hall. When the others arrive, Mordecai looks around, mesmerized by the scene. The walls where coated with a silver glaze and gold, there where large white pillars, and colorful paintings of former rulers and guards. Princess Aura pauses, looking up at a large golden framed picture. Mordecai examines the picture and notices a handsome gray wolf, a beautiful white female wolf, and an adorable white pup. "Oh...the two of them are your parents?" He asks. Aura looks down at him with a weary smile "Yes..." Mordecai could see a hint of sadness in her crystal light blue eyes "They...died didn't they?" Princess Aura closes her eyes and whispers in reply "Yes they did because of...Razorfangs." Those heartless swine! He thought with anger all they do is kill!
      Princess Aura pauses for a moment. She looks down at Mordecai, "Mordecai, do you know what a Moonlight wolf is?" She asks, giving him a worried look. Finally! An explanation!
      "No. Not exactly. Everyone keeps calling me that and I've never been told what that is" he answers, truthfully. He needed to get answers. None would explain to him what a Moonlight wolf is. The Lightfeather princess shakes her head. "Good grief! I figured that they would skip or forget the subject. Now listen closely" she tells him, "There are several kingdoms that lie in the region of Anzellix. Moonlight wolves happen to be one of them. You orginated from there. How you got separated is another story."
      Mordecai ponders for a moment. He had to get it through his head. Alright I guess I have to accept who I am, a Moonlight wolf.
      Zip dashes through the hall, with Zoom behind him "Guys look what we found!" Zip says, with excitement. They both turn around to see a large white feathered dragon behind Zip and Zoom. "What the-" Dash starts but, replies with nothing. Princess Aura smiles and walks towards the white feathered dragon, "Hi there, Soul" she smiles sweetly "What are you doing here?" Soul glances at Zip and Zoom then chuckles heartily.

      "Well Aura, I heard a special visitor was here with some of his friends and I just wanted to stop by to say hello" Soul replies, looking directly at Mordecai and his friends. His long ears twitch.
      Zip sits in front of Soul. "Mr. Soul? What kind of dragon are you?" He asks, titling his head to the side and narrowing his eyes. Soul hesitates for a moment then replies "I'm a FeatherStorm dragon and what kind of wolf are you?" He asks, in curiosity. Zip pauses and sits there puzzled, "I don't know...I'm fast though" he answers, unsure. Soul chuckles and turns his attention towards Mordecai. Mordecai takes a step forward and examines Soul. "Can Lightfeather wolves transform into you?" He asks. Soul turns to look at Princess Aura and they laugh. He turns back around, "No, my kind is one of a kind we aren't hybrids of any type. Pure blood only" he answers. Zoom quickly joins in "Do you know if the kingdoms have separate dragons or if there are any wild dragons around?" He questions. "Well young one I don't know everything but, there might be a chance of different ones running about." Soul replies, lifting a paw and patting the pup's head.
      Princess Aura walks down the hall and calls back "Do you all want dinner?" She asks, casting Soul a questioning look. Zip bolts past Zoom and Soul shouting "Yes the food is here!" Dash shakes his head in embarrassment and follows his little brother, with Zoom quickly following behind. "Yes we should go" Ti says, while walking behind Kai and Soul. Mordecai turns his head towards the hall and quickly runs to catch up with everyone else.
      He enters the dining room, smelling the aroma of scents. He could feel a sense of comfort. Ti stares deeply at the table full of food and opens his mouth. Several drops of drool trickle from his mouth and land on to the floor. "Ewww gross dude!" Zoom says in disgust "Close your mouth!" Ti quickly shut his mouth and slowly sinks under the table in embarrassment. Kai rolls her eyes and shakes her head in disgust, "I thought Arkoh's apprentice was better than that?" She then nudges Mordecai with her muzzle "Righhhht?" She teases. Mordecai stares at her for a second then lets out a fake laugh in return. "Ha...wait what are you talking about?" He asks in confusion. Kai sighs and rolls her eyes again "Never mind you boys don't understand anything." Mordecai finally looks down at the table to see a variety of fruit, meat, and sweets. "Oh...my" he says in surprise, "I guess all of the berries, wild hare, fish, and river water paid off." Everyone laughs and sits down on the golden cushioned seats.
      They all relax and Soul lets out a yawn. The FeatherStorm dragon hops out of the seat. He walks towards the diner exit and halts. "Hey, Aura, I have to get back to helping your guards guard the castle" he laughs, making a terrible pun while, winking. "Oh! Okay. My bad. Well I'll be seeing you!" Princess Aura replies while, laughing a bit. Soul awkwardly laughs back and runs through the door. Kai approaches Princess Aura and whispers something that Mordecai didn't quite catch. Aura lifts her head to gaze at the door Soul had gone through, "I see you all have to go" She says, now looking at Ti and Kai. "Oh! Yes we must get going and It's been lovely staying with you" Kai quickly thanks the princess, in a polite manner. Aura guides them towards the door. She turns towards Mordecai, "Mordecai, please be careful out there" She warns him. He could hear the strong sense of worry in her voice. He faces her and nods, "Don't worry I will." Princess Aura smiles and watches Mordecai run after his friends "Please be careful" she pleads.
