As I flew I couldn’t get Damon off my mind. Something about his eyes had caused me to start to transform. And not only did that eat at me but also the fact I could tell when he was looking at me. It was like my body was drawn to him. Something about his dark eyes had drawn me to him.

Finally I gave up and dropped back to the ground. As much as I wished I could fly forever I had to go back home. When I checked my phone I had a missed call from Heath. I called him back as I dressed.

“Hey,” he answered. “I was wondering when you would call me back.”

“Yeah sorry you know how family night is,” I replied as I pulled my shirt on.

He chuckled. “Yeah Menia is pretty uptight about family. Any chance I could convince you to sneak out and hang at the Grill?”

“I told you I have homework.” I was running out of lies. It wasn’t like I could tell him my parents were getting me ready to be mated off which meant I would leave and never come back. And when I left I would not be allowed to talk to Heath ever again.

“That’s right you’re my good girl. Always doing her homework and being with your family. It’s a wonder you’re with a bad boy like me.” I could hear the laughter in his voice.

I couldn’t help but to laugh myself. “You know you are not a bad boy.” By now I had dressed and stepped out of the woods and I made my way back home.

“Hey I could be if I wanted to,” he joked. “I just know you don’t go for those types of guys.”

I bit back a laugh. Wrong, I thought. Bad boys are hot and they are my type, like Damon, he’s a true bad boy.

“Well I’m at the Grill. I’ll text you later,” Heath said.

            “Alright have fun, bye.”

            “Bye.”

I shoved my phone into my back pocket. Then I felt him. I looked up to see Damon leaning against the white fens under a light pole. He looked up at me as I approached. A small smile slid across his face. “Are you stalking me?” he asked in a teasing tone.

“If anyone is stalking it’s you. I was here first, you’re the one who has the same classes as me,” I shot back.

Damon seemed to think this over. “What if I just like to be in the same classes with hot chicks?” He spat out his toothpick.

“That’s called littering and I have a boyfriend so your tricks won’t work on me.” I crossed my arms.

He raised an eyebrow. “The same boyfriend you just lied to?”

“How much did you eavesdrop?” I felt the corner of my mouth pull down into a frown.

“You shouldn’t frown. It doesn’t suit you.” He pushed off the fens. “Shouldn’t you be at home? It’s late and there are bad people out there.”

“What like you?” I laughed. “I’m not scared of you. I’ve seen kittens more frightening than you.”

“You should be,” he said in a low voice.

“And why’s that? Have you killed before?” What he didn’t know is since the day I was born I had been trained to fight. I could easily take on someone his size. If anyone should be afraid of anyone he should have been afraid of me. I at least had killed before. “So what are you doing here anyway?”
