I awoke to sunlight streaming on my face. Rubbing the sleep from my eyes I saw Dalvin curled up on Damon’s pillow with a note.
Cassandra I figured you could do with a day of rest. Don’t worry about school, Danielson took care of it. Also Dalvin will want you and we haven’t figured out what to do with him during the day so another reason for you to stay though I will miss seeing you. Relax and enjoy your day. I’ll see you later. –Damon
I smiled. That was Damon, he might look like a bad boy but he really was a softy. He always wanted what was best for me.
Dalvin uncurled himself from his ball. He yawned and his teeth gleamed. “Geeze want to sharpen your teeth much?” I laughed as I got out of bed.
“How did you sleep Mommy?” Dalvin asked as we made our way to the kitchen, his claws clicking on the floor.
“I slept great,” I said.
On the way to the kitchen we went through a hallway. It opened to a living room that the windows over looked the backyard. The whole wall was glass doors. I leaned on the railing enjoying the view. The backyard was huge. A pool was next to the porch and huge oak trees were scattered around the yard. In the back was a line of different type of trees that hid the green house.
“What is it Mommy?”
I looked down at Dalvin. “Nothing, come on let’s get breakfast.”
I pulled out a raw steak for Dalvin and made toast for myself. It was weird being in the house without Damon. It felt empty. This was Damon’s house. No, our house, I told myself. This is my home now. Stop thinking of it as his, it’s ours.
On the kitchen bar sat another note: This is your credit card. If you need anything feel free to use it. Just please try to stay under five thousand a day unless needed. – Damon
P.S. that does not include groceries or other house hold stuff.
My jaw dropped. He wanted me to stay under five thousand a day! “How much money does he have?” I asked aloud.
After that I decide to finish unpacking. I had planned to finish yesterday but with Dalvin hatching and the whole Cam thing I hadn’t had the time. On the dresser in the bedroom was a stereo which I plugged in my phone and blasted music as I unpacked. Dalvin sat on the bed and watched. At first I had thought he wouldn’t like the music but his head bobbed with the beat.
I had been surprised as how well the house was done. I had thought I was going to have to redo it, but I really liked it the way it was. Clearly a designer had done it but it fit Damon’s personality.
While I was putting my stuff up my phone rang. “Hello?”
“Hey sexy,” Damon’s voice purred.
I giggled. “How’s school?” I sat down on the bed and let Dalvin crawl into my lap.
He groaned. “Do you have any idea how many times I’ve done the twelfth grade? Hell I know more than the teachers and I slept in class.”
“Well you’re about to have gym so that should help,” I teased.
“Yeah right,” he snorted. “Well I want to warn you that the maid is about to come over. She knows you’re there so she’ll stay out of your way.”
