Leaning against a tree I played with my nails as the men talked. We had caught word that some of the Hunters were going to try and attack Amora so a bunch of us stationed around her cave.

“Cass you look nice a bored.” Dylan said as he paced in front of me.

“Hmm let me think why?” I put my index finger to my lips as if I was thinking. “Maybe because we do this every night and hello have you seen Hunters actually want to fight me?” I was always posted closest to Amora because I was the last line of defense and I never lost.

“You got a point there.” He chuckled. “So you excited about getting mated soon? You’ll finally get to meet more Guardians.”

“Yeah I guess. I mean I’m gonna miss you guys like crazy but I knew one day this would happen so for me it’s normal. You know me I’ll do anything to protect the Dragons. I’m really excited to meet another Dragon.”

Dylan nodded. “That will be pretty sweet but what are we going to do without you? I mean the Hunters haven’t been half the problem with you. I remember when they used to cause fights every night but ever since you’ve been able to fight they’ve backed off.”

“So I’ve heard.” I was the youngest to guard Amora. Every Guardian did once they became of age but since I was so powerful they had me stand guard.

“This is post one. All post report,” said the radio on my hip.

“All clear at post three.” “Post four, we haven’t see anything.” “Same at post five, nothing.”

I unhooked the radio from my belt. “As usual post six is clear.”

We all waited for post two to check in but they didn’t. “Post two are you there?” Leyon’s voice rang but once again they didn’t check in. “John go over to see what’s going on.”

“Will do,” John said.

“Looks like tonight might not be as boring as you thought,” Dylan teased.

I rolled my eyes and pulled out an apple and started to peal it with my dagger. There was s rustle and I quickly turned and flung my dagger into the darkness. It something and it thudded to the ground. “Maybe you’re right.” I winked and hoped up.

“Looks like your aim has gotten even better,” Dylan said as we looked down at the dead Hunter. My dagger and sunk right into his neck and he gaped up at us trying to speak but now my dagger stuck out of his neck oozing blood.

“Damn nice throw.” Dylan pulled the dagger free of the man’s neck and handed it back to me. “You really are the best Guardian. I can’t wait to see what you’re like in a few years.”

“That’s because I give everything I have for Amora. I don’t want any Hunters to get her and well I always knew I was leaving so I didn’t exactly make the best and deep connections I could with everyone else.” I grabbed the radio. “Hey we caught one.” I nudged him with my foot. “Though he’s not going to be telling us anything since he’s dead.”

“And there’s Cass for you fokes.”

“Shut up Andrew.” I rolled my eyes. “Anyone find out what happened to post two?”

“Yeah we’re here, just got a little busy with a few Hunters but we got them. Leyon is circling above to see if there are any more.”

We waited for two more hours to see if anymore Hunters were going to come but there wasn’t any more sightings so Leyon called it a night and we all meet up to discuss the next night.

Once again I leaned against a tree as the men talked. That was the problem with me being a female. Most of the men only saw me as a weapon. They loved me and we were all one big family but when it came to fighting I never really got a say. I was more told what to do and it pissed me off.
