Right at six a black Challenger pulled in front of the house. I ran down the stairs. “Bye Dad, Menia,” I yelled as I closed the door behind me. I turned to find Damon standing on the door step.

“I was gonna knock.” He gave me a cocky smile. “Or are you just that ready to see me?”

I laughed. “You’re not that lucky. I just didn’t want my parents to see you. I had to lie to get out of the house.”

He smiled. He wore jeans with a gray v neck shirt. His dark eyes looked me over. “You look good,” he said as he opened the car door for me. “Like always.”

“Thank you.” I slid into the leather seat. “So you have a motorcycle and a Challenger?” I asked as he slid into the driver’s seat.

Damon smiled. “And a few others.” He started the car and started to drive, clearly he had a destination in mind. “But my Challenger is my baby.”

“I thought I was showing you around?”

He reached over and rested his hand on my leg. “I grew up here. I just said that to get you to say yes.” His thumb rubbed against my leg.

“Cheater,” I shot. For once I was glad I took the Neferium. I didn’t have to worry about transforming.

“You seem more relaxed,” Damon noted.

I turned from the window to look at him. “What do you mean?”

“Normally you act as if you have a wall between you and everyone else. It’s like you have to always hold back. You always seems like you’re constantly looking out for something or someone. Your body language is so tight.”

I sighed. Two days and he could already notice my moods and body language, great. “I don’t know, I just feel free.”

“That’s because you’re with me.” He smiled and tightened his grip on my leg.

The car was dark and I could make out Damon’s face. The lights from the dashboard lit up his face from underneath which made his cheek bones look sharper. I could see him fighting in a battle. Everything about him told me he is a warrior like me. I tucked my hair behind my ear. “Just keep your eyes on the road.”

            “That wasn’t a no.”

“I know.” I looked back out the window. “So where are we going?”

“You’ll see.” He pulled the car over onto a dirt road. “That’s the old Salazar house.” He pointed to a while building on a hill. Trees blocked most of the house but I could still make out the top of it. The road came to an end and Damon grinned at me. “Now time for a walk.”

“Good thing I didn’t wear heels,” I teased as I opened the door. I bit my lip worried he knew so much of the Salazar line. All the Salazar I knew were Hunters and although I had never seen him before and he didn’t smell like the usual Hunter scent I was still worried.

Damon was behind me before I could close the door. He took my hand. “Come on. When I used to visit during the summers I would come here.”

I looked around. “Where is here?” We were in the woods. The town was surrounded by woods and they were a major party spot for teenagers.
