I felt his eyes on me before I saw him as I walked down the hall. He was leaning on a locker with his arms crossed as if he was bored. He had brown hair with eyes so dark it was hard to tell where the pupil ended and the iris began. He wore a black leather jacket and black shirt underneath with jeans. Something behind his eyes flickered when he was me. The corner of his mouth pulled up into a small grinned.
Then someone passed between us and he was gone. I blinked and wondered if he was ever there. He had disappeared like a ghost.
Katlyn waved her hand in front of my face. “Hey Cass anyone there?”
I blinked. “Yeah sorry, I just thought I saw someone, but I guess I was wrong.” I shook my head.
“Oh that would be the new guy. His eyes are so dark they say I’ve done things your father wouldn’t like. And did you see how big his muscles are? What I would do to have his arms wrap around me. I can only imagine what he can do. Twenty bucks says he’s taken many girls v cards.” She giggled.
Katlyn was truly one of a kind. She was a Water Guardian with blue eyes and brown hair that waves down her back. But what made Katlyn one of a kind was her sense of humor over boys. I had never met another person who was so into boys. She would get them wrapped around her finger and then drop them like they were hot.
“Katlyn!” I gaped at her.
“Come on Cass I saw you looking at him and he was looking at you too.” She winked. “Don’t worry, I won’t tell Heath. And speaking of Heath…”
“Hey what are you two lovely ladies talking about?” Heath asked as he wrapped his arm around me.
“The new guy. Katlyn has her new toy,” I teased. Katlyn was very big into boys. She would go through them like children go through chalk.
Heath laughed. “Get in line. Half the girls are following him like a puppy.” He tightened his arm around me. “I’m glad I already have my girl.”
I smiles as I let him kiss me. “Yep, lucky you.” I saw the normal group of Guardians follow behind us as we walked.
By now we had made it to the cafeteria. Heath led us threw the line and we took our place at our normal table. In our group Heath was the only human with his friend Kevin who always looked uncomfortable. I couldn’t blame him. Guardians were the alpha dogs and the humans knew we were superior. We didn’t really talk much with the humans. It had come as a surprise when I started dating Heath.
At first I had thought Heath and I dating would be a problem but everyone accepted him. He really was one of us just without the whole Guardian part.
I sat down and felt someone watching me. I looked up and found the new guy staring at me. I should have felt uneasy but something about his dark eyes caught my attention. He was sitting at the corner table. Some girls were trying to talk to him but he didn’t pay them any attention. His eyes were locked on me. He gave a small smirk and stood to leave. I watched as he threw away his food and left through the double doors.
“Cassy you hear what I said?” Heath asked. “Do you want to go to the Grill tonight?”
“I have to pass. I have a ton of homework.” I replied. “Besides my parents want to have a family night. Menia is being super hard core about me turning eighteen.”
