I went back up the stairs that I remembered sliding down on. I tried my best to wipe the scruff marks from my bare feet. It didn't work very well. I felt really bad for the cleaning someone was going to have to do.
When I got up the stairs, there were a whole bunch of hallways. I didn't know which way to go. Damn. It didn't seem this confusing coming downstairs. I went to the hallway straight in front of me. I didn't remember turning a corner, so this was probably my best shot.
Turns out I was right. I ran into Jack when I went down the one hallway.
"Hey Evangeline!" He said to me in a sing-song voice, as if proud to say my name. As much as I hated to admit, I loved the way he said my name. It rolled off his tongue perfectly. And the way his eyes shone when he- snap out of it, Eva!
"Hi." I said sharply. When I saw sadness in his eyes, my wolf growled at me.
He was being nice and you just had to make him feel bad. Thanks a lot!
"Anyways, what are you doing?" He asks, clearly over my curt greeting.
"I don't know, there's not much to do." I hadn't gone exploring, and considering I've only met 2 people, I didn't want to be shown around. I didn't mind Beta Daniel, but I'd prefer not to meet anyone here. I definitely wasn't going to be shown around by Jack.
"We could go for a run!" Jack exclaims, already excited by the idea.
"No thanks." I said, not wanting to spend anymore time with the man who is the reason my whole pack might be dead.
"Oh," he sighed. "Why don't you want to run with me?"
"Oh, I don't know.... Because your the reason my pack might be dead!" I yelled at him.
"Listen, ca-"
"Everyone I have ever known, including my parents, might be dead. I had friends, a family! And you," I jabbed a finger at his chest, "you are the reason I'm not with them, wherever they are!"
"I'm sorry, okay? I knew after the attack that there was no way you would come to my pack with me, or let me into yours! I just wanted to be with my mate- is it too much to ask?" He wondered, throwing his hands up. "Besides, there are some things you just don't understand.... Your pack isn't as innocent as you might think it is."
By now I was furious. First, he attacks my family, second, he kidnaps me, and third, he insults my pack right in front of my face. What am idiot. The strikes.
"My pack is innocent, I understand quite a bit about what's going on, and you're wrong, I would've given you a chance if you asked me to come to your pack like any normal mate." I said in a deadly calm voice. I noticed him gulp. If I wasn't so mad I would've smirked, knowing I had an affect on him.
"I'm so sorry. Please just forgive me!" He begged.
"Sometimes, sorry doesn't cut it." He growled.
"I demand respect! This is my pack! I am the Alpha here!" He shouted. I flinched. Not at what he was saying, just his volume. I hated loud noises.
"First of all, you may be the Alpha here, but you'll never be my Alpha. I don't have to respect you. Secondly, I'm not at your pack as a visitor, I'm here against my will! I don't need to respect you when you feel no need to respect me. This is a two way street. If you didn't realize, I'm an Alpha too!"
"No, you're not. You're a whiny little pup who's been sheltered her whole life. You don't know what it's like in the real world! You're not even an Alpha yet. I am, and I demand respect!" My eyes widened. Not in shock but in rage. How dare he!
"The only thing I'm whining for is a mate who's not an ass! I'm whining for someone to help me escape so I can complete the ceremony and become an Alpha! I need to leave!" I shouted and growled in anger. His scowl deepened. He lunged forward and held me in his strong, muscular arms. If I wasn't so angry I might've felt happy in his arms.
"Mine!" He growled. I shoved his arms off of me, but immediately regretted it. I felt so cold without him.
"I am not yours. Maybe if you learn that violence is not the answer, and if you treat me right!" I stormed away from him.
Short chapter- I know. Sorry I haven't updated for a while. I will try and make a schedule for myself so I can update like once a week. Pic of Daniel.
