I decided that I needed to get some sleep. Not only was I confused about Jack, my parents, my friends, and my pack, but I was tired. I moved a little, keeping the cold chain off my bare leg. I was still in that oversized t-shirt. The bed was so comfy I fell right asleep.

****

When I awoke, I could move. I looked around to confirm my suspicion that there was no chains on my ankle and I was free to move. I stretched and smiled contently at the ease it put my muscles in.

I jumped out of the bed and strolled over to one of the 3 doors. The first one I opened led to a bathroom, the second one a closet. I walked over to the third. It opened and revealed a hallway with more doors and a staircase. I sensed a chance of escape and took it. The staircase was a beautiful spiral one with a mahogany banister. I felt bad, but I slid down it, most likely leaving a scruff in the polished wood. Oh well, it was for the greater good. I would get downstairs quicker this way.

When I landed on my feet I looked around. There was a kitchen that looked amazing, a living room with flat screen TV's and many couches, and a door. I ran over to it and pulled it open, only to crash into something hard. I stumbled backwards and looked up. There I saw a smirking Jack. I sighed. This guy was clearly a ninja. There was no other possible solution as to why this guy is everywhere. It was like he always knew where I was going to be.

"Going somewhere, love?" he asked. I grimaced and looked down.

"Yeah, home." I snarled.

"But your already here," he said, as if it were obvious.

"Try again. Last time I checked I was a pack member of the Blue Moon Pack, and my home was on that territory. Not here," I said while crossing my arms. He just smirked at me, as if saying I know something you don't. And he does. He probably knows how the battle turned out. This monster is probably happy that my whole pack could be demolished and I wouldn't know about it.

"Whatever. I'm hungry." I said, looking away, trying to see that kitchen I noticed. I started wandering to the left. Jack rolled his eyes.

"It's that way," he said, and he pointed to the right. I took off running. I strolled into the kitchen as if I owned the place. I roamed around looking in the fridge and all of the cupboards to see what I liked. I finally settled on frozen pizza. You can never go bad with pizza. There were choices between cheese, pepperoni, and Hawaiian pizza, but since I love meat and hate pineapple, I chose the pepperoni pizza.

Usually any pizza is fine, and I might not like pineapple, but I can pick it off. All pizza is good. Unless there's mushrooms on the pizza. If there is, burn the pizza.

I turned on the oven that was beside the fridge and waited.

"Whatcha cooking?" I heard a male voice from the door ask. I was prepared with a snarky response in case it was Jack. But when I turned around I saw another man. I recognize his aura of power from my kidnapping. He was the Beta who thought better of just opening the car. I knew that this man wouldn't be an enemy while I was here. If he was, I'd have no chance of escape. It was clear that out of the two, Jack had the thicker skull and the man here thought things through. Jack's pride and ego probably got in the way of his decision making. He probably thought I wouldn't run because we were mates and I would be 'lucky' to have a mate like him.

"Pizza," I responded.

"Yummy! Can I have some? Please?" He begged, jumping around like a 5-year-old. Now that I thought about, this man might think things through, but he looks like he actually might have the mental age of a 5-year-ago.

"Nope." I said, popping the "p".

He sighed and grumbled something about ignorant, pizza eaters. Oh well. He can be as mad as he wants, I'll still get my pizza.

I took the pizza out of the oven and cut it into slices. I munched quickly and quietly. I did not want another run-in with someone from the pack. I put the dishes in the sink and washed my hands. For the second time in a day I bumped into someone. I really have to look where I'm going.

I looked up to find the Beta again.

"Oh, hello," I said awkwardly.

"Did you enjoy the pizza?" He asked, obviously still not over it.

"Ok, let's forget about that. What's your name?"

''Daniel. I thought everybody knew my name in our pack. I guess not."

"Well, I'm hurt you didn't recognize the person you took hostage. Oh and attacked their pack, I almost forgot." I said, bitter again. You might as well call me a toxic waste candy, that's how sour I still was about this. I personally thought I had every right to be rude and bitter. When someone attacks their pack, I'll see how their attitudes are.

"Oh! Wow, I can't believe I didn't realize it was you!" He said, apology in his eyes.

"It's fine." I grumbled.

"Are you gonna tell me your name?" He asked, smiling again.

"My name is Evangeline." I answered. I don't care if he tells Jack or not, everyone would find out eventually.

"Hmm. Pretty name." He nodded at me and left. I sighed. It was almost night time and I needed to figure out sleeping arrangements. All I knew is that I wasn't sharing a bed with anyone, including my mate.

Besides, couches are comfy enough. Being short makes it easy to sleep on anything: couches, chairs, coffee tables. But I suggest you don't try that last one. It's not very good for the back.
