"Fine. What's your condition?" Jack asked. I decided I'd let him decide if he wanted to take the rogue's condition. He was the one in charge of this pack right now, because technically, I wasn't Luna.
"I want to join your pack. Oh, and I want you to line up all of your unmated female wolves for me. I want to see if my mate is here, I still haven't found her." He got this faraway look in his eyes, like most people do if you talk about their mates.
Jack looked uncomfortable. I wasn't surprised though. Alphas are very protective about their packs. I didn't want to put him in the position to chose between the safety of his mate, or the safety of his pack.
After a while he decided.
"Fine. We have a deal. But you have to give us our answers first." Jack said.
"Jason Roberts was kicked out of the Blue Moon pack in 2003." He paused, looking at me. "That was the first year your father was Alpha. Jason wanted revenge ever since. Around 2 years ago, he decided he wanted to start his plan. He's been gathering rogues. He is making an army. When his army was complete, he was going to attack Blue Moon.
"But the plan backfired. All the rogues turned on each other. So this time, he gathered less bloodthirsty rogues and decided that getting back at your dad could last forever. First, he would take out you, then your mom, and then Blue Moon. He wanted your dad to suffer, so after all of this, he would kill him."
"So your telling me, this dude got kicked out of a pack, so he's been wanting revenge for life? Jeez this guy needs an anger management class." I said. Lots of people become rogues daily, and some of them are still kind of normal.
"So, I told you what you want to know, can I see the females now?"
Jack sighed. "A deals a deal. I'll get them to meet you out front in one hour. Daniel, show him his new room, will you?"
Daniel nodded and left with Madi right behind him. Jack gave me a look saying we'll be talking about this tonight.

"Please welcome, Sam Warth to the Black Shadow Pack!" Jack called out to his pack. So it turns out that I was extremely off on the rogues name. I guessed it was Mason. With his brown hair and brown eyes (once they turned back from red), it was an easy mistake to make.
A rogue's eyes will turn back to their original colour after being accepted into a pack. Most rogue's eyes don't change colour once they leave a pack, and that means they had a good reason to leave. Red eyes rogues are usually crazy, but Sam was an exception.
He got thrown out of his pack because of his crazy old Alpha. Sam had challenged him for the Alpha position because he had been hitting the pups and females. But Sam lost, and was banished, meaning he didn't run away, marking him as 'crazy'.
Jack's pack clapped, knowing that he gave key information to us. I've never known why, but packs are extremely protective of their Lunas. Even back at Blue Moon, my mom was always protected.
"Now, can I have all the unmated females out front please? Sam would like to see if his mate is here." There was slight murmuring but all the other people left. Some might've disagreed with their Alpha giving this much to a stranger, but they didn't say anything. I did have to admit that it would be odd for your Alpha to all of a sudden welcome a stranger with a broken neck to his pack, and then present him with females. It was a good thing that most of the pack didn't know Sam's history, or else he'd be in a trouble. A former rogue that threatened the soon-to-be Luna wouldn't be welcomed into the pack with open arms.
Jack turned to Sam.
"Here's the second part of the deal. Let's see if your mate's here."
All of the females lined up one by one in a single file line. Most looked nervous, and some looked excited. The nervous ones were probably the younger females who weren't quite ready for their mates. The excited ones were probably the ones who have been waiting a long time for their mates.
Sam stuck his head in each of the female's necks, looking to find that special scent.
I scanned the females more closely. There had to be one out here who already knew Sam was theirs. His scent would be extremely appealing, and it would immediately attract them. The only reason Jack and I didn't notice each other was because there was a fight going on and we weren't focused.
There didn't seem to be any female with a lovestruck expression on her face and my heart dropped for Sam. There was still a chance that she'd be here, but it didn't look like it.
I knew that I shouldn't have felt sad for Sam, as he tried to get me killed, but in his defence, he told us that Jason had been blackmailing him. Sam's sister is still at his old pack, but they aren't allowed to contact each other, and Sam isn't allowed on the pack's territory.
Jason knew this and said that he'd kill Sam's sister if Sam didn't agree to help him. Jason would do it in a place where Sam wouldn't be able to stop his sister from being murdered without getting killed himself.
"Do you think she's here," I whispered to Jack, leaning closer to him. He was watching his female pack mates with a very protective expression on his face. He was so tense and it looked like he was ready to jump up and fight if Sam tried anything. There was an adorable crease between his eyebrows, and I massaged it with my finger. The crease went away.
"Maybe, maybe not. There's a fifty-fifty chance," he said, still quite distracted.
"I guess so," I agreed, smiling slightly. It was amazing how much he cared for the safety of each of his pack members. It made me giddy just thinking of the rest man I got as a mate.
We had our ups and downs, only a fool would disagree with that. But the fact that he cared for me, and admitted he was wrong made up for it. I was a bit cold to him as well, especially since he just wanted to close with his mate. His mother is never around, and I've never seen her before, so it's clear he had no influences on how to treat his mate. He could've asked Madi, I guess, but I still felt sad when I thought about how little support he had through this whole process. And my being cold to him did not help one bit.
We continued to watch Sam search for his mate. He looked hopeful at each female of the Black Shadow Pack, but I could see his hope declining after each female was just a regular female to him, not his mate.
But I had faith she would be there. Fate works in mysterious ways, but I believe that fate led Sam to us, and because of that, I had reason to believe that fate made Sam's mate a member of our pack.
Our pack. I noticed how I've been saying that a lot lately. Jack and I have been very close, and this place kept on feeling more and more like home. I felt bittersweet about that.
On one hand, it was great. I was comfortable around my soulmate, the person I'd be spending the rest of my life with.
On the other hand, I missed my family, and I felt like I was betraying them by thinking there was a home for me, and it wasn't with them.
But I was pretty sure being here was a good thing. Fate brought me to Jack, and fate is going to help us be together forever.
Here's the chapter. Should I get a pic of Sam? Hope you liked it. I've been editing a lot lately, trying to get my extremely short chapters to 1000 words, and when I'm done I'll try to get them to 2000 words. Thanks for reading!
