The Friendly Giant Works to Hard

***THIS IS NOT APART OF THE STORY LINE***THIS IS A ONE-SHOT***

Things have been busy at work and the one who's been hit hard was Kaoru. He has been working all week. Interviews left and right. Not to mention all the over times he's been getting. I worry about him. I would help him out but I'm already tied with the others. Kaoru is completely by himself on this and I'm completely worried. I know he can handle it but it's a really big case for just one person. I'm already at my house. I decided to basically make a tofu based meal. He deserves at least that much. Plus I know he won't eat a healthy balance meal. I wonder if he even ate what he was supposed to. I grabbed some food containers and headed out the door. It took a great while to get to his house. Pulling out the spare key he had given me I easily unlocked the door. Tama was a bit upset but I quickly poured her some food and warmed up some milk for her too. I then placed Kaoru's food where he normally places his things and wrote a note before slipping out and heading back to my house to take care of the things I need too.

The next morning I pretty much fed Tuna and made sure she be good throughout the day. I looked at my phone and noticed that Kaoru had sent a text that pretty much said thanks. However I just couldn't shake a feeling I had off. Surely he's okay if he texted me right. He's going to be alright right? I sighed and headed out the door and went right back to work. When I arrived I noticed Kaoru working on his article. He seems so busy. I could tell he didn't even get an ounce of sleep which made me worried even more.

Reika: Here you are Kaoru the photos that you need. I would have handed it in yesterday but you looked caught up.

I handed him what he needed.  

Kaoru (mumbled): ...Thanks...

I could hear the tiredness on his voice as well as his face.

Reika: Are you okay?

He once again looked up. He had bags under his eyes.

Kaoru: ...yeah

I still couldn't help but worry.

Reika: If you need any help Kaoru I will be willing to help.

Kaoru: No need...

He wasn't even going to thinking about it. I sighed and went back to my own work. I watched the others ask if he was okay but like meno results. I then watched him go up and sign himself out for an interview and I honestly wanted to stop him but I could do nothing.

Chiaki: Reika can I talk to you for a moment?

Reika: Sure lets go on break...I buy you coffee or something.

Chiaki: No thanks I don't wanna return the favor.

Reika: I'm rich I don't expect you too now come on.

JuSt like I said I bought him a coffee and I had a cappuccino.

Reika: So I'm gonna guess and say that this is about Kaoru right?

Chiaki: Yeah...he even denied you didn't he?

Reika: Yeah...I'm honestly scared...what if...

Chiaki: Don't! He is capable of doing this but I could see what you mean. Just have some faith in him.

Reika: Okay...thanks Chiaki.

I then realize that he's trying to look out for me too however it didn't work. I drink my cappuccino and went back to work. I got plugged in and worked without stopping. Before I knew it lunch break was starting. I looked an Kaoru wasn't at his desk. Did he get back? I look at the board and he's still signed out. I start to panic so I called his phone. It went straight to  voice mail. So I called again and again and again...nothing. I feel my breathing quicken. I feel my anxiety raise up as I assume the worst. Others start to noticed and I get surrounded by the others with the same 'are you okay' question. It didn't really help matters.

Reika: Yeah I'm okay I just need fresh air.

So I went outside. It took me a minute to figure out what to do next. I went back and went to Kaoru's desk and got the number he had went to interview. I dialed the number. The person told me he hasn't arrived. I freak out. I took a deep breath and thanked the man before hanging up. I then looked at the address and wrote all the hospitals nearby. I then looked up the numbers on the Internet but it was hard seeming how my hands were shaking.

I had called all the hospital numbers and I find out that Kaoru was in fact in the last one. He had collapsed right at the train station. I go to gather my things when Akyoshi came over.

Akyoshi: Are you leaving early?

Reika: Yes sorry sir family emergency.

He looked at me.

Akyoshi: Make sure he's okay and keep me updated.

I smiled.

Reika: Of course, thanks Akyoshi!

I left the office. I went stright to the hospital room and I spoke to the nurse and she lead me to his room. When I walked in he was still sleeping. I sat in the chair next to him. It kinda made me sad seeing him with an IV. I just wanted to cry. The only thing you could hear is his soft breathing and his heart beat monitor thingy. I grabbed his hand.

Reika (softly): My poor friendly giant...you over worked yourself! And you gave me a heart attack.

I took a deep breath and just waited. Sooner or later I started to get really tired. Unwillingly I dozed off. My dream was cruel to me. Replaying the events and giving me the worst possible outcome. Yet I felt something pet my hair. It was so soft that it brought me out of my nightmare and brought me to a green field right next to my friendly giant. We laid there watching the clouds. My head rested on his chest and we just stayed like that and I was purely happy. But as it goes all dreams come to an end. I woke up.

Kaoru (whisper): Hey...

Reika: Your awake!

He smiled at me.

Kaoru: What did you dream about?

Reika: Um it was just a dream.

Kaoru: You looked scared...

Reika: Well I did have a nightmare but then I felt something pet me and it turned into a good dream.

Kaoru:I know you calmed down after I did!

He showed me his rare smile that I loved so much.

Reika: Hey your the one in the hospital I should take care of you! And you need to be careful you scared me!

Kaoru: I'm sorry...

He got up and putting his forehead on mine. I always loved it when he did that.

Reika: Your forgiven but I'm not leaving until you get out of here.

I did keep my word and I did keep Akyoshi informed. Sure enough he did get released and I grabbed his hand as we walked out.

Reika: Kaoru, I'm going to ask Akyoshi to put me on your case and next time please ask for help!

He nodded in response. I smiled and gave his hand a squeeze.

Reika (whisper) Thanks!

I just love him. The sun start to set and it was absolutely perfect. Not only did the warm colors reflect of Kaoru but my anxiety left with the sun.
