The Box On The Shelf

Audreys POV:

Yesterday was hella fun. But my legs and throat are sore from running around the mall and laughing too hard. Oh whale it was worth it! I'm so glad to have spent time with Jared. He is my rock and I honestly wouldn't know what to do without him in my life. Yesterday Andy surprised him with a poster of them with all of their signatures. Jared had this huge smile on his face. I could've sworn I saw his eyes glass up.

I dig through my CD's under my bed and scavenge for some good music to listen to. A couple of weeks ago CC took me to an old music store that he likes that had a bunch of music. Old albums were stacked and had like a retro vibe to it. He led me to the back and that's where he said he had his favorite stash. We found Guns and Roses, Metallica, Kansas, and even Nirvana. I gasped when I found them and CC smiled.

"You want them Audrey?" He asked. I smiled and said yea.

They were pretty reasonable price so he bought some for himself. So I take out Guns and Roses and hit play. I put it on loud knowing Ashley wouldn't care. I begin to clean my room and tidy it up a bit. I sort all my makeup on my dresser and put my shoes in a line in my closet. I notice there's mud stains on my carpet and I dash down the stairs to find something to clean it with. Ashley is sitting in his room with his bass.

"Hey Ash?" I knock awkwardly on the door. He looks up and smiles.

"Yea Audrey?"

"I got the carpet dirty where's the cleaning stuff?" I hope he's not mad that I got th carpet dirty.

"It's in the closet downstairs by the kitchen. You need help with anything?" He asks. He doesn't look angry. He looks peaceful.

"Nah I got it keep working!" And so I go downstairs to the kitchen and find the closet with the supplies.

I go back upstairs to clean the mud stains. I trip on the second to last step and drop the roll of paper towels. The roll rolls away with half of the paper streaming down the flight of stairs. Ugh fuck my life. After trudging down to get the paper and back to my room I change the CD to something a little more current. Sleeping With Sirens oh yea! A loud ding comes from my phone. It's Jared of course.

"Hey Audrey! Whatcha doing?"

"Cleaning my messy ass room."

"Awe well that sounds boring as ever! I had to clean my roo- IS THAT SLEEPING WIRH SIRENS IM HEARING AUDREY?!?!" He hears my music what the hell? He's such a fangirl.

"Yea it's Sleeping With Sirens! CC got me a lot of music so I was playing that earlier."

"That's cool! And that's cool of CC! Listen Audrey, I was wondering what you wanted for your birthday?"

"My birthday? Jared you know that's not until December and it's not even September!"

"I know, I know but I actually got a job and I'm gonna get you a present this year. A GOOD present at that!"

"Oh my god Jared! I don't know what I want I usually figure it out like two weeks before."

"Ok I'll ask two weeks before then... You're free to get back to your cleaning of you messy ass room!"

"Thanks I'll talk to you later!"

I sigh as I end the call. Now I have to clean up my mess. It takes me about 30 minutes to be satisfied that I cleaned up as much as I can. Back at the orphanage she made us clean everyday. If you came after school with no homework she'd make you clean until the room smelled like lemon and bleach. I finish cleaning up the carpet and it looks as good as new. I gather up the supplies and go back downstairs. I put everything in the closet where it belongs. But a box in a light pink and silver pattern catches my eye at the top of the shelf. What is that?

I go down the hallway to make sure that Ashley is still in his room. I listen at his closed door for a minute and hear him hum a melody. He must be writing for the new album. Good so that means he won't come out for a while. I creep back into the closet and take down the box.

There's baby shower cards saying congratulations and good luck. There's some "it's a girl" cards and even an invitation to the actual baby shower. "Come join us as we celebrate Laney and Ashley's baby girl!" Ash and a woman had a baby? Well where is it? I gasp. Maybe it...died? Maybe this Laney took the baby away from Ash. Who is Laney? Where is this baby girl?

I suddenly hear footsteps coming down the stairs. I throw everything back into the box and shuffle it back to the top shelf before Ashley can see what I'm doing. Hopefully I don't look suspicious.

"Hey Audrey, you wanna go to Jinxx's for a bit?" He asks. I slide a bit away from the closet door hoping he won't ask what I was doing.

"Jinxx's? Hell yea lets go!"
