The Orchid

Stepping out of the room, my mother had cooked us dinner and we all sat around the big table near the living room. the dinner was quiet and everybody stared at Jessica, even my father. I could tell she was feeling uncomfortable, although she hid it quite well. she cut the chicken and with one cut a little too much she broke the plate and tossed the knife and fork on the table.

"would you please stop staring at me?!" she raised her voice. everybody flinched when she did and my father was quick to apologize.

"i'm very sorry. they're just amazed to see a White Water still alive.."

"excuse me.." she wiped her mouth, stood up and walked out to the back yard.

"great. my family in a bunch of stalkers" I told my family and chased after her. she sat on a block of wood and lit up the bonefire.

"I know it's hard." I said as I sat down next to her.

"hard?" she chuckled. "they're looking at me like i'm some fresh meat" she threw a couple more twigs into the fire.

"I know... they're amazed by you Jess." I took her hand in mine. "you're now the most powerful werewolf in the world, they're a little scared of you too."

"why? I would never hurt them"

"I know. but they don't. and they should" I looked at her and she sighed, standing up and walking inside.

"ok everybody listen up, I know you're afraid of me but i'm never gonna hurt you. I have no idea what's going on with me or why it's happening and your staring looks are'nt helping so first, stop staring. second, I need to know everything about what's going on and I would really love it if you'll explain to me why am I transforming into a giant husky siberian." everybody nodded and my dad went straight to explaining.

"I believe you were given some sort of medicine to stop you from shifting." she thought for a second and then went for her purse and took out a small bag with a niddle and small bottles next to it.

"it's probably the Insolin shots, I don't take anything else regularly." she handed it to my father.

"what about your sister?" he asked her.

"she has a liver deseas, she has to take pills every two hours... but she doesn't she's perfectly healthy is'nt she?" my father nodded. "i'll tell her to come over" she dialed her number. after about half an hour the door bell ringed. my mother opened the door and let Ashley in.

"hey, what was so urgent- OH MY GOD MOM IS GONNA KILL YOU!" she noticed her imprintion mark.

"i'll tell you about that later, right now you need to hear something.." she sat her down and Jess and my father told her everything. when she didn't believe, they made me shift in front of her and it's an understatment to say she was shocked.

"this is crazy. you are crazy."

"Ash calm down ok? we can't keep being humans anymore."

"and why not?! we were just fine until now!"

"because our father is attacking inocennt people Ashley. we can stop him."

"where'd you get that idea?!"

"Kristen's sister is now in coma because of him! we don't have a choice but stopping him."

"this can't be right.." she said holding her head.

"I know this is a lot to take in Ash.. but we have to do this. it's quite amazing actually, feeling so powerful.. Ash, we're the most powerful wolfs on earth." she smiled at her and Ashley smiled back.

"ok.. what do I need to do to transform into this.. wolf" she said laughing to herself.

"yeah, that might take some time, you need to stop taking your meds." Ash just nodded.

"wanna go for a run?" I smiled at Jessica.

"sure" she smiled back and we went out. we walked a few miles into the woods and I we took our cloths off, hiding them inside a tree.

"just do what I do" I said and I took off running, jumping over a fallen tree and shifting in the air and landing prefectly. Jess started running, she jumped over the fallen tree and shifted in the air, landing perfectly and raising her head to look at me. that moment wad unbelievable. she looked amazing.. the sun hitting her eyes through the trees and her fur was so white, almost glowing.

"you're a natural" I said in my mind and she looked at me surprised. "perks of being a werewolfs, you can speak to each other through your mind. now come on, i'll race you to the spring." I said and we started running. I was trying my best but she was a lot faster than me. her eyes were sparkling and it looked like she was happy. she won in the race to the spring and then we decided on a swim. we shifted back and swam together. when we got out, we laid on the grass and looked at the sky.

"I feel amazing... I feel... free." she said and I smiled at her.

"so you don't even care that you're.. how'd you call me? oh right, a dog." she laughed.

"I was upset you can't judge me," she argued. "and I do care but I feel like I never knew freedom before this, I feel like one huge rock has been lifted off my shoulders and I can finally breathe." she sighed.

"I know, it's pretty awesome. I don't want to burst your bubble, but there's a war coming soon. you'll need training." she looked at me.

"I know. what happened?" I looked at her confused. "between your family and my father?"

"where do I start?" I sighed.

"the beginning."

"it all started on October 6th 1805, the White Waters or as known then, The White Cloakes, got consumed and blinded by their power, they killed the royal family in England and took over the throne. they ruled the kingdom by threatning the people, it was running on fear and slavery, the only people who lived well were The White Cloakes. the rest lived in poverty."

"why England?" she asked.

"they wanted to be immortal, expand their kingdom to rule all europe and eventually, the whole world. there is a special flower that grows mainly there, an Orchid. they believed that after they were created by the young witch, the Orchid that grew near by caught some of the spell and gave it the ability to heal all wounds, heal the body constantly so meaning, keep you young and alive forever."

"and my father? he was born about a decade later if not more."

"your father drank the potion Jess. He was the one who ruled at the time, he's views never changed. my grandparents were among their slaves and they wanted to stop them so my grandma kind of blocked the abilities of the Orchids that grew on their land with some spell, and the affection of the potion is slowly wearing off. the only Orchids that still exist were hidden by my grandad, we are the only pack who knows about them but your father found out and tried to take it from us. so when I was 7 he came here, almost killed me but Emily's family were around, they stopped him and scared his pack off. and now he's here again, he wanted you and Ash to join him and his pack, so he can have more power and a higher chance of taking the Orchids. but he will never find them." I smiled at her softly.

"well that's a lot to take in.." she sighed deeply.

"come on let's race back to the house, running always helps." I stood up and smiled at her, helped her up and we both raced back to the house.
