Chapter 5: Rapunzel

Hiccup POV

I woke up late and I assumed Astrid would have taken control of things but she hadn't. I flew over to the twins who were trying to make their boar pit bigger by blowing it up.

I sighed "really guys, this is how you're going to make it bigger?" I asked them, I suggested they ask for help digging in the future before they tried blowing everything up.

"Well Astrid wasn't in her hut and we couldn't find her anywhere else to ask her the best way to do it so we figured this would be the best way to get it done quick" Ruff responded.

It took me a few seconds to realise what she had said "what did you say?"

"She said blowing it up would be the quickest way to make the boar pit bigger"

"No, I meant about Astrid"

"Oh, yeah she's gone" they said together. I wondered if she had just gone into the woods behind her hut but she wasn't. I searched and she was nowhere to be found.

I waited a few hours thinking she had gone on a flight. I didn't want to wait anymore "Fishlegs, you're in charge until either Astrid or I get back"

"by the way, I saw her flying really early in that direction" Snotlout pointed to the direction he saw Astrid fly.

"Thanks, come on bud, West it is" and we started to fly. We had been flying for hours and I could see that Toothless could use a break. "okay, land on that island over there" he did and I started adding to my map.

I thought about turning around but then the thought popped into my head, what if Astrid hadn't come back because she was in trouble so I carried on.

We flew straight until it started going dark "alright we'll have to camp here for the night and go back in the morning, maybe Astrid came back" I said to Toothless who had already started warming a spot for him to sleep on.

I got a campfire ready "Toothless would you mind?" he shot a small blast and the firewood caught fire "thanks bud"

The next morning I woke to find Toothless had gone, probably to find fish. It wasn't long before I found him "come on let's" I stopped myself hearing something behind me "who's there?"

I pushed past the bushes to see a girl with long blonde hair "hey" she said happily

"Hey, I'm Hiccup"

"Rapunzel, and who's this?" she asked looking at Toothless.

"that's my best friend Toothless" Rapunzel walked closer until she was close enough to pet him. She asked if she could go for a ride.

"Sure but I was heading back to my friends, wanna come?" I asked her smiling.

She jumped up and down "I would love to" so I helped her up and we flew back to Dragons Edge. We landed and Snotlout was the only one around

"Where have you been, things have been getting a little crazy around here" he said referring to the twins wanting to blow things up again. I asked about Astrid "she still hasn't come back but I'm sure she will soon" he replied as i got off Toothless and helped Rapunzel down.

I introduced Rapunzel to everyone and their dragons after I found them all spread out across the island.
