Hiccup POV
Jack followed me around, we were looking for Astrid, I had no idea what I would say to her when I found her but I didn't care.
My first thought was the forest but I wanted to go alone "hey Jack why don't you search the castle since you can make yourself invisible" he agreed it was a good idea and left.
I headed straight for the forest where I found Astrid shooting arrows at a target attached to a tree trunk. She must have heard me because she span round and aimed the bow at me.
"Please don't shoot me" she realised I wasn't there to hurt her and she dropped the arrow.
Once I was sure she wasn't going to shoot me I started talking "hey, just wanted to ask what happened" She stopped me there
"You want to know why I left Berk right?" She asked looking over to who must have been a bodyguard.
"You didn't leave Berk, who told you that?" I was really confused and slightly hurt that she didn't know what had really happened. As soon as I asked the question it occurred to me that Merida had been the one lying to her.
"My sister, Merida, she's been helping me since I washed up on the shore with no memories but I feel like she's not telling me something"
"Well I can help if you want, I knew you too" I said hoping she would let me talk.
"It's fine" She said grabbing another arrow. One thing they obviously couldn't change about her was how stubborn she could be.
I decided the best way for me to get her to trust me was to bring her axe over to her so I left to get it. "Try this" I said handing it over to her.
She held it for a few seconds before throwing it at the target hitting the bullseye. "Okay, so what do you know about me that Merida refuses to tell me?"
"Well first off, she lied about your name, it's Astrid, and second, your preferred weapon is this double bladed battle axe, to the point where you attacked Snotlout and pinned him to the floor just because he said he wanted to give it a try"
"Anything else?" She asked and waited for me to tell her more.
"Well, you like to occasionally plait small parts of my hair and I let you, see you did these" I said holding the two small plaits in my hair "your best friend is your Deadly Nadder, Stormfly, who is incredibly playful and while you can be vicious and deadly, you are the only girl I've loved"
I couldn't believe I had actually said that last part out loud. It wasn't what I had meant to say but it just popped out and I couldn't take it back. Not that I wanted to anyway.
"So why did I leave Berk?" She asked looking behind me again.
"You didn't" I was being straight with her "it might sound crazy but you died and I was heartbroken and then Rapunzel did something to bring you back but she didn't think it worked but Merida obviously knew that it would have so she took your body and brought you here" I said in one very big breath.
"Yeah that does sound crazy" She threw the axe again hitting the bullseye. "I can prove it, I'll" I started to explain but was interrupted.
"There's not much time, Dagur plans to attack Berk right after the party, we have to stop him" she said confusing me some more.
"Wait, what's happening here?" I could hear the confusion in my own voice.
She kissed me "you have no idea how long I've wanted to do that, but I couldn't with my body guard hanging around I need Merida to think I don't remember anything but what she's told me" I suddenly realised what was happening.
I couldn't help but smile "so this is all for what exactly?"
"As long as Merida thinks I don't remember anything she won't tell Dagur to attack, they need me to stay here and I can't get back anyway Stormfly is still on Berk" I looked at her giving her the 'think again' smile "wait, she's here!"
"How else did you think we were gonna find you, although Merida stopped at a lot of other islands on her way home"
