Chapter Eight

I drove since Levi was a terrible driver, I couldn't trust him behind the wheel of a car. We went to McDonald picking up something quick.

"I'm guessing you guys wouldn't want to donate to the vampire would you?" He said, smiling.

We just looked back at him with a blank face.

"That was a joke." He said. "I already ate."

We just kept on driving. I ate with one hand which really irritated James.

"Not only are dirtying my very nice car but it's raining, and you have half of your attention on the road. I mean come on that is really unsafe."

"James please shut-up." Said Levi.

"You're just irritated I interrupted your alone time with her."

"You mean you interrupted my sleep? Yeah, that is really irritating never do it again."

"I'm not that bad you guys love having me here. I'm fun, and interesting. I'm a mystery, plus I'm devilishly handsome."

"Shut-up, or I'm kick you out. You can walk in the rain you guys don't get sick." I said, his voice stroking my last nerve.

"Well, fine." Said James. "This car is extremely quiet."

I put up the music completely, I was surprised it was Lana Del Rey. Asteria love her music. I was really starting to regret not bringing her, the fight by the bus reminds me it was best she stayed back. If she hadn't stayed she could've been the one to get stabbed, and while Fred and her were the same age I knew she wasn't strong like any of us. Sometimes I resented her for that, wanting to confide in her when I was feeling weak, but I couldn't. I was the rock, and she couldn't see me being a mess.

"What are you thinking about?" asked Levi.

I looked at him. "Taking a shower." I lied. "I feel kind gross."

He nodded. "Yeah, we should've showered. We don't have any other clothes though."

"We can buy something when we get to Fairbank, we should before we see the witches."
He nodded. "I'll pay you back."

"Don't worry about that right now. We need to concentrate on living for now."

"How's your leg? I forgot to check it."

"It's fine. Quit worrying."

"It's better to worry then to think of what might happen." He said looking at James. "Wiping out a generation of Guardian's. That's genocide."

I shivered. I had been trying not to think about that. It was something so brutal I couldn't believe anyone could do that. I knew it had happened before but to actually see someone actual put the actions in motion to harm children. It was scary to say the least. It made me want to find Lucas that much more. It seemed like a soulless thing to say about to someone you didn't know but I really wanted to put a stake through his heart.

"He killed a lot of Guardian's already. There's going to be a major gap in the population."

"I never thought of that." Said James.

"He's already caused a lot of damage. He's caused plenty of irreparable damage." I said. "Do you know about the other schools? Are they okay?"

"Yeah, they're fine for now." Said James.

I looked back at him. "Do you know where he lives?"

I could see James look up at me through the mirror. "No. I have no idea where he is."
