Chapter Nine

I smiled. "You know? I'm really glad you're the one here. I don't think I could cry like this with Asteria, or anyone else."

"I know, you made me tear up too." said Levi.

"You cried don't lie." I said, smiling.

"Okay maybe I did, but if your crying, what hope do the rest of us have?"

"You, Levi. You'll do fine."

He shook his head. "We'll see. Don't you wish sometimes that we could be normal?"

"Yeah. I was so jealous of them, I still kind of am. Hell, I'm jealous of you right now."

He smiled. "I would be too."

"Levi?"

"Yeah?"

"If you see my sister after all this. Can you tell her that I was bitten already when I last saw her? I don't want her to think there was something that could've been done, it was just something that happened."

"Okay. I can do that. I will." He nodded.

"Thanks."

He kissed my cheek, quickly and swiftly. "We should hurry."

I nodded.

He finished wrapping my leg. He helped my put my shoe on the hurt leg, but I could do it myself on the other.

We put on our jackets and left.

The outside of the Book and Magic store looked like a cute little store, it was light blue with white trimming. Sort of like something in a story book, really, the sign outside was welcoming but it looked surprisingly empty for such a beautiful exterior.

We went inside, and it looked like Christmas even though that had been four months ago. Fairy lights were wrapped on the walls and bookshelves. Candles set close to the books, which freaked me out a little but I guess if you're a magic store it can't really burn down. There were some books floating around which if I were a normal person I would think it was a really cool effect, but since I wasn't it left me with my mouth open. "This is lovely." I whispered.

A fat book came out of the bookshelf next to me, it opened itself and paper started going everywhere, making a strange noise, it came closer to my bad leg at a rapid speed. I screamed, and went behind Levi who tried to stand in front of me in the way of the book but it darted between his legs trying to bite me I jumped on Levi's back, freaking out.

"Xandra. Xandra, calm down." Said Levi, holding my legs up.

"Go back!" yelled a girl, waving her wand.

"Sorry." I said my face turning red, still clinging on to Levi.

All the books stopped though and went back to their place. I quickly let go of Levi.

"Sorry. Inanimate objects actually coming to life really freaks me out." I said, to Levi this time making me wipe my eyes that had been watering. "We're sorry we'll leave."

James had his arms crossed across his chest as he raised an eyebrow at me.

The girl walked up to us in a rush, her blond hair whirling around with a life of its own. "I didn't mean you, sweet heart. I meant, the book. Sorry, they get a bit restless sometimes, that ought to teach them a lesson." She said, softly smiling. "Hello my name's Eliana. How can I help you?"

"Oh, hi I'm Xandra and this is Levi. That's James." I said, waving back to James.

"An almost vampire hunter, an almost vampire, and a vampire all walk into a witches store. That just sounds like the beginning of a bad joke." Said a woman, walking out from behind a curtain. She was tall, blond with hair like her daughters, like it had a life on its own.
