Chapter Twelve

The vampires stared at me as I walked behind Lucas. The air around him rippled with power and fear. I was completely out of place, although the bite and my fever said I wouldn't be for long.

I kept my hand in my pocket on the potion of fire.

I could see the school now clearer, the buildings our dorms. "Why are you doing this?" I whispered.

"All in due time." He said.

I just stared at him.

"My men are going to break through to barrier in no time." He said.

"I'd like to see you try. You see my sister is a prodigy with spell casting, she wouldn't make it easy for you to break through it." I said.

"She hasn't at all, but we have several people working on it."

"They won't go down without a fight."

"I'm counting on that. I don't want to kill them, that would be a waste on knowledge, talent, and life. I am going to turn them."

"They would rather die." I whispered.

"They would I know. I would've said that too when I was young."

"What happened?"

"I died." He said. "You will change your mind too when you die."

"James didn't, he wants to be human again."

"James is in love with the thought of being human he doesn't really want it. He just believes he does, but after the feeling of this form." He smiled darkly. "You don't evr want to go back or feel weak again. Because when you're a vampire all you are is strength."

"I am already strong, he pointed at my arm, you aren't strong enough."

I sucked in a breath trying to ignore him, trying to stop my anger. "You don't know what real strength is."

"What is it then?"

"Letting yourself feel all the pain, physically and emotionally, and to overcome it. That is true strength."

"You have never felt true pain then."

"No, you haven't. If you believe that you ignore pain to gain strength, then you will never really understand. You don't know who I am, you don't know what I've been through, and you don't know how strong I had to be."

He looked at me like adults look at a child, he squat down to my height. "You-"

I punched him in the nose with my left hand.

"Do not treat me like a child." I said.

All the vampires stared at me, but I didn't care if I just angered the beast I would not be treated like a child.

"What do you want with me? Why am I here?" I asked.

"Alexandra!"

"No, why would I do that? Why would I listen to you? You kidnapped me!" I yelled stepping back.

"Because I am the one in power."

"No, then kill me! I don't care!"

"What?" He asked, it seemed like his patients was running thin.

"I said kill me or tell me why did you bring me here?"

"Should you really be testing me? I just told you I'm one of the most powerful vampires in the worlds and you are testing me?"
