Chapter Thirteen

I felt nothing, I felt everything. I was on a cloud, and I was falling. I see lights, but I was enveloped into darkness. I was dying, but I was living my life all over again.

"Mom, Asteria dog tagged my page." I said, showing my mom my book.

"Nuh-ugh. I just bent it." She lied.

Then, black.

"Mommy, I want a brother or another sister or both."

"I'm sorry, baby but I can right now. I'm already so happy with you and Ash!"

Then, white.

"I miss her." I whispered, laying back in my bed at eight she's supposed to be here.

Asteria read through her book, looking up at me. "She would want us to work hard."

"I still miss her too much."

Then, black.

"Awh, look you're so short." Said Levi, patting my head.

I took his arm and squat throwing him, knocking the breath out of him. "Don't forget to breath out." I smiled.

Then, white. "Awh, it hurts Xandra. I want mom." Cried Asteria, holding her stomach while she got her first cramp.

Then, black. "You like me don't you? Well, I like you." Said Peter.

Then, white. "She has so much oil in her hair." Laughed Poppy.

Then, black. "I'm going to go meet some friends. I'll see you later." Said Asteria, her hair done up, and dress in fine clothes.

Then, white. "What are you doing here in the middle of the night? Stabbing the punching bags?" asked Levi, with a small smile.

Then, black. "I'm sorry I did that." Said Peter.

Then, white. "Xandra, you deserve better." Said Levi.

Then, it was black, flashes going faster and faster.

A haunting melody came in and out of focus, humming in my ears.

I felt like I was drowning again, and then at the end of the time-lapse a wave of fresh cool air came over me.

I could feel my heart beat in my chest again, and I could breathe.

My eyes opened as I was gasping for air, my body was lifted coming back down and my body trying to claim all the air it had previously lost. A mask was put on my face helping me breathe.

I could feel someone squeeze my hand. I looked to my side and there was Asteria.

"Hey." She whispered. "You're okay."

All I could do was smile feeling exhausted.

She laid her head on the edge of the bed. "You scared me, but other than that you are a bad ass."

I squeezed her hand as a thank you.

"I should get Levi. Ah, he can wait a bit. I miss my sister." She said. "I thought I was going to be alone."

I shook my head slowly.

Asteria smiled slightly. "I'm glad I'm not. I don't know if I'm ready to be alone."

I took in a few deep breaths and took off the mask. "You won't have to be." I put it back on quickly.

"There's something I need to tell you. Well, actually somethings."

I raised an eyebrow.

She stood up and came close to my ear. "I'm getting powers."

I frowned.

"I brought you back, and I think I healed you like completely. Your still a vampire, but the witches said they can heal you, that you have a three days left and you can be healed from that. I think... I know I have powers."

I raised an eyebrow. "Weird things keep happening and it's not just simple stuff witches teach us it's, it's really big stuff. It not only the you thing, it's so many other things you don't even know. It's healing, manipulating dreams, starting fires out of the blue."

I held her hand tight. I would tell her what I knew later, but for now I just physically couldn't.

"Do you believe me?" She asked.

I nodded.

"Are you just saying that?"

I shook my head. "I'm tired." I whispered.

"It's okay. Just sleep." She said.

I closed my eyes and fell back asleep.

-

The ground of the school were closed, abandoned. I could see the smoky grounds, although it had nearly been a week. The sky was gray, the air the air was cold, but I couldn't feel it. The cold didn't hurt me.

I had one more day. One more day of the back of my throat burning, that was the only pain I felt, and then I could die again for the third time that week or I could be back to the way I was before.

Before that though, I wanted to see school.

I couldn't get in there because I was a vampire, now the grounds had been blessed by the witches as a memorial ground for our dead. Only Hunter's could go in there no humans, no vampires, and no witches. I could feel the force of their magic preventing our entry.

I would cry if I could, I just wanted to see my home one last time before I went into the unknown something I felt faintly familiar already.

Two students died during the attack, a ten year old boy by the name of Roy, he gave his life to save a friend, and a seventeen year old girl went missing, she was assumed dead, her name is Alexandra. Of the staff only three came out alive, a janitor and a Guardian who drove the buses, and a teacher who stayed in hiding for days.

Only Asteria, Levi, James and the witches know I'm alive. James was in the car by the side of the road, music low in the background. He was starving, I could tell he was in pain too.

Asteria and Levi were taken to another school in Montana, somewhere I would go too if I appear again.

I stuck my hand out, I could feel the wall like the force against two magnates that tried to stick against the on same side, but it was impossible it left me out. I didn't belong, but I knew I would again.

I felt the sadness and I left white flowers by the witches force, that was the last way I could pay my respects.

I walked down the empty road to the car, and got in the drivers seat.

"Why can't I drive my own car again?" asked James.

"Because you're a bad driver."

"But I've been driving longer then you."

"You're still awful." I said, putting my seat belt on. "Put your seatbelt on."

"Why? We can live forever?"

"Not if we crash, and you land on a stick that pierces your heart."

"Fine." He said, putting on his seat belt.

I smiled sadly. "Ready?"

"Ready." He nodded, seemingly nervous.

Drove away with the music humming in the background, into the mist of the mountains, and into the unknown.
