10. With the Lights Out, It's Less Dangerous

That Monday at school, Landon walked in with Thomas next to him.

Shep walked next to Tristan and Emmett.

"I really didn't think we would be here today." Shep blurted out as they walked through the doors.

Thomas glanced back at his little brother, "Count your blessings little brother."

Emmett looked back at Shep, "We have nothing to worry about."

"You say that."

"And I believe it Shep, our parents came back with faith."

"You believe too hard my friend." Shep said back to Emmett.

"You can't stop believing just yet." Avery said walking over to them.

Mavi walked up next to Avery, "Things aren't different, it seems kinda normal around here."

Avery glanced back at her, "Are you sure?"
They all looked up as JJ walked down the hallway.

"She won't talk to you?" Landon looked back at Avery.

"Not a single word. It is kinda nice but I think we are officially divided."

Mavi rolled her eyes, "Listen the girl has had issues with us forever. She hates everyone because we have some things that she doesn't. She does know that my mother was killed right? That I don't have a mother either?"

Avery glanced back at her, "I don't think she cares."

"Sounds great, I was in my mother's stomach when she was killed. I should have never been born but I am here and I don't walk around like a victim."

Landon glanced back at her, "Difference in people there Mavi."

"I grew up and I accepted it. Maybe JJ needs to do the same." Mavi said as she walked away from the group.

Avery glanced down at Emmett, "Don't you have a game tonight?"

Emmett looked back at her, "Yea, I do."

"Think mom will show up?"

"Have you even heard from her?" Emmett asked her back.

"No, not really." Avery said back to him.

Emmett nodded his head as the bell rung for the start of the day.

Avery nodded her head, "I will see you guys later."

Emmett waved back at his sister as he went with Tristan to their first class.

Thomas went down the hallway with Shep when he saw Everleigh standing in the office.

Thomas pointed as Shep nodded his head back at his brother.

Mavi sat in her first class when she saw the board in her class room.

She glanced around as everyone was just going about their business.

She sat back in her chair as the teacher saw the writing.

"What on earth is that?"

Mavi looked down at her book as the teacher erased it from the board.

Down the hallway, Tristan and Emmett walked into their first class as the teacher told them not to be late again.
