I can home from school after, I walked in the door and immediately was overpowered by a scent I hoped I would never smell again. Beer.
My heart immediately sunk when I found my dad nearly passed out on the couch.
"Dad?" I reluctantly said
He jerked when he heard it
He adjusted his eyes like he was trying to figure out who I was.
"Hey Trinaty." He slurred.
"Wha- what happend?" I asked in denial
"What? Oh long day at work." He finished.
"You promised you wouldn-" I started. But figured it was no use, he was just going to forget everything I said.
I slowly crept up to my room and lay on my bed, throwing my backpack to the floor. I lay there for a minute and let the tears fall.
My life is falling apart.
I turned to my side and looked out the window, startled to what was just outside the glass. It took me a minute to figure out what- or who it was. Chad, I finally realized.
I got up and wiped my cheek. I opened the cottage shutters and opened the window
"I came to apologize." He said.
"For what?" I asked, sniffling a little.
"Are you ok?" He asked. "What happend?"
"My ugh.. My dad." I finally said.
I didn't have to explain any further. Chad just understood me.
He jumped into my room and put his arms around me. Just holding me.
He lead me to my bed and let me lay down on his chest. I know this sounds cheesy but just the sound of his heart beat called me down. It made me feel like I wasn't five months pregnant with a baby who's fathers a creep, and that my dad wasn't drunk downstairs almost passed out. It made me feel like it was just me and him.
I felt safe.
