Sat in the main lobby area of the Vault a traced my fingers along the tip of the object Lewis has handed me. Those words rang through my head like a stupid song that was stuck on replay. I couldn’t help thinking about how it all made sense. Ever since this he had never been the same, and I don’t mean him becoming pale and sensitive to sunlight. He became more aware of everything I was doing, it felt like he had a sixth sense. He even knew when I had changed my shampoo, which was weird. But the feeling that something hasn’t been right with him all started when he got a new job. He never told me where he worked but he leaves really early in the morning and didn’t come home till late. I didn’t particularly mind this as I work in the day time anyway. That was until the accident. Lewis never told me what happened. He just came home with a briefcase full of 50 pound notes one day and told me to quit my job. For the past 3 months I’ve been living in our flat off the money Lewis came home with that day. But since that he has been very different. He doesn’t sleep, or eat that much either. Many occasions I’ve found him stood on our balcony in the moonlight just looking out into the city. I mean it’s sexy spying on him when he’s in a world of his own. But I’m not lying when I say he’s in his own world. Sometimes he notices things that I never even knew about. His hearing became super sensitive and he could hear a car from 5 miles away. I had to snap out of it. But finally I know the secret he was hiding this whole time. My boyfriends a vampire. Not many people can say that.
I looked down at the object in my hand. It was really pretty. Shaped similar to an old fashioned crown it had 3 jewels on it. 2 red ones either side of a big blue one. I looked at my refection in the blue gem and noticed a blue skinned lady looking back at me. She had a crown on her head and long white hair and an evil smile on her face. I pulled the crown away from my face and shook my head in confusion. I then peered back into the gem to see my face in the reflection. I blew out a sigh of relief that the blue lady wasn’t me. I then remembered something Lewis had told me. “it has some sort of power according to Lewis.” I walked up to the large broken piece of glass that made a mirror above the sofa in the lobby. Standing in front of it lifted the crown to just above my head. “let’s see what powers then.” I said while slowly lowering the crown onto my head. A flash of light filled the mirror and the room as the crown rested on my head. I screamed out in fear of what was coming next. Falling to my knees I put my hands over my face and curled up into a ball screaming for help. I had no idea what was happening to me. I looked down at my hands to see them freezing over. A fine mist covered the area around my hands as they started to turn the water in the air into ice particles. “What it happening to me!”
Lewis P.O.V
Evan was to my right in a ball of angry flames fending off and burning the corpses that surrounded us to a crisp on the floor. Snapped the neck of a zombie that came up behind me. “Evan we need to get back to the vault before it gets dark!” Evan heard what I said and set fire to the dry grass around us before turning tail and making a dash back towards the vault.
“was it a good idea telling Jade you were a vampire?”
I looked over to Evan as I hovered above the ground moving at the same speed as the speed ball of flame that was Evan’s body. Seeing Jade’s expression when I told her sent me sick. I fell onto the ground losing concentration and unable to fly. I flumped into a ball on the ground and stopped with my face facing the ground. Evan giggled while coming to a stop above me. “I don’t know. Her face when I told her…”
Evan offered a hand out to me before remembering he was now made completely out of flames. He snatched his hand back next to his hip and looked down at me. “Man it wasn’t that bad, your just over thinking it. There’s nothing she can do about it anyway. The quicker we get back the sooner you can talk to her and put yours and her minds at rest.” Evan had a point. I got to my feet and we ran off back towards the vault.
It was dark by the time we found the vault and Kyle and Rian at just arrived a few minutes after us. They looked beat and Kyle had lost his hat allowing his now pink hair to flow freely in the wind. Evan provided us with light as we waited for the vault to unlock from air lock and open. When it did I saw Jade stood their waiting. She had attached the Crown on a piece of chain to the side of her shorts and she had a beaming smile across her face. I had barely walked through the door before she had her arms around my neck in a tight hug. I looked over to Evan who had a ‘I told you so’ look on her face. I weaved my arms around her waist and pulled her into me into a tight embrace.
“Get a room!”
“Shut up Pinkie!” I shouted back to Kyle as a released her from my grip. We walked into the kitchen area to see the array of food Jade had brought back with her. “so no trouble getting back her then?” I said to her while I squeezed her shoulder. She turned around with a smile on her face.
“Nope no trouble! See everything is here. We can have a feast tonight… so get cooking!” she lightly hit my chest while laughing. Jade can’t cook to save her life. I walked over to the foods while the others walked out into the lobby area. When I knew no one was looking I took a small rabbit out from my pocket. It squirmed in my hand as I held it up to the light gazing deliciously at it’s red filed body. My vision started to change as I pulled the rabbit to my face with my canines poking eagerly at my bottom lip.
“I’m so sorry.”
