I stare at the cement in awe as I snap into reality. The crazy man who pulled the trigger stares at me as if I am an alien, never taking his eyes off me. Even after getting shoved into a cop car, his eyes still watch me hauntingly. Through the glass.
And about me? Oh... I don't say a word. My thoughts cloud my brain, making it too foggy to think straight. I am guided into the back of the cop car along with the other girl. She bawls her eyes out and tells a cop about what had happened, detail to detail, without leaving anything out.
The cop listens intently, as another cop drives us towards their station. When the girl is finally finished with her side of the story, the cop decides to ask me what my side of the story is.
"Same as hers." I tell the cop truthfully, "But instead of the trunk, I was shoved into the backseat of the car. After we drove for maybe a couple of minutes, I decided that we would end up as one of those girls that are found dead on the side of the road, raped and murdered. I didn't want to turn out like that, so I elbowed the first guy in the face. When he let go of me to grab his hurt nose, I lunged at the driver. I brought my elbow to his face too, and then spun the car down the side of the hill."
"I thought it was our only escape..." I add, looking down at my hands that are sweating like crazy, "I didn't want to get raped."
The cop ventures, and touches my leg with her hand, "It's okay. You're okay now."
I try to hold back my anger at her. I'm not 10, I don't need someone to tell me everything is alright. "I know I'm okay."
She throws me a half smile, "Do you know the men who tried to kidnap you?"
"No." I answer, "Am I going to go to jail for killing a man?"
She gives me a reassuring smile, "There will most likely be cops that have to make sure that what you have told us is true. If it is, you are innocent and will not be arrested for murder."
I nod and look away. My mind keeps wandering back to when the bullet bounced off my skin. It is a possibility that the few sips of wine had caused me to imagine things, or just see things, but I could almost swear that the man had pulled the trigger on me.
The only possibilities that my mind could come up with for the bullet bouncing off my skin were all unreal. I couldn't be bullet-proof, there was no possible way.
If it was real, how come nobody saw him pull the trigger? Why didn't anyone hear a bang and why didn't anyone wonder why the man staggered backwards? He didn't just stagger backwards randomly, allowing himself to get arrested for no reason, right?
My mind just wanders like crazy, never finding an answer that made any more sense than the possibilities I had thought of before, and soon enough, my eyelids shield the night sky from my vision as they slide in front of my eyes.

I wake up when a hand touches my shoulder, shaking me awake. When my eyes open, the cop that had asked me my side of the story appears first in my vision. She smiles welcomingly with intense hazel eyes, "We have arrived at the station. A couple people would like to ask you questions and then you can get out of here...."
I shrug her hand off of my shoulder and get out of the empty cop car. She guides me to the police station, and once inside, another cop greets me.
