CHAPTER 3

"Daphne,where is Esmeralda?,i thought i saw her with you girls" Ravina asked.

"Your majesty,she was with us but she left a while ago"

"Alright then,i'll leave you girls to enjoy yourself" she said and left them.

Caroline kept staring at her as she walked away. Lucy nudged her at the elbow.

"Hey,quit staring already" she said.

"I can't help myself. Gosh! that woman is the real definition of elegance,and one day i'll be like her"

Lucy scoffed,"dream on"

"Jealous much?,you've got to admit,witches with affinity for fire sure got class and are smoking hot,while those with affinity for earth,hmmm....not so much" she said with a wicked grin.

"Your a real b....,you know what,i aint got your time". Lucy stormed off in anger.

I really needed to clear my head. Am still shocked and annoyed at what had just happened,so i've got to get far from the palace before my powers go bizarre and start destroying things. Yup,am sneaking out. Hope those warriors won't see me.

Of course they can't see me,after all i've done this several times,so am like a pro now,i think. I summoned a fog to cloak myself and started levitating up the wall. Suddenly the hem of my gown got caught on a nail.

Crap!,that's why i hate wearing these kinda things,it makes sneaking out difficult. I dragged back the gown so hard it ripped and made a sound,alerting the warriors.

Great,this just gets better. I tore out the damaged part and levitated up quickly before they caught me.

"Strange,that sound came from here,but i don't see anything". One of the warriors said searching around with his eyes, trying to adjust his sight to the darkness.

Then Erebus,their leader called out to them, "I think i've found something,looks like the torn hem of a gown".

They all stared at it,trying to see if they could recognize it. Suddenly,Ravina stepped out of the darkness.

"Erebus,is something wrong?,why the gathering?" she asked.

He approached her with the torn garment and bowed before her. "Your majesty,we thought we heard someone lurking around here,but instead we found this". He gave her the material.

She studied it carefully,then suddenly her eyes widened in recognition, she sighed.

"What am i going to do with this girl,she's so stubborn and defiant.

"My queen,do you know who it belong to?" he asked.

"Yes warrior,i happen to know her very well" she raised her hand and motioned the others to leave and they left. "It appears my daughter sneaked out of the palace"

"Princess Esmeralda?!" he asked in shock. "But how..."

She smiled "fret not Erebus,i know how clever she is, you couldn't keep her on a leash,no matter how much you tried".

"I'll go after her now my queen,she couldn't have gone far" he said turning to race out. Ravina called him back.

"Don't bother,she'll be back and when she returns i'll be waiting" she turned and walked back to the castle with the torn garment in her hands.

"Caroline!!!,i think you have had enough to drink,your getting yourself drunk" Daphne rushed towards her and took the glass from her before she could take any more wine.

"Hey,what the hell is your problem,stop being such a spoilsport,its a party,so comon loosen up and stop being "Mrs Am so serious all the time" she complained,half drunk and staggering a bit.

"Don't you know your in public,a little decorum won't kill you" Daphne said, sending the wine far away from her as possible.

Caroline laughed hysterically and belched "Daphew...umm Daphin....Dolphin or...whatever your called,read my lips "i don't give a hot wet monkeys ass about decorum" am here to partyyy"

Daphne sighed and buried her face in her palms. "Now your an object of embarrassment,Esy where are you when your needed"

Lucy danced her way into their midst,looking happy. "Whats with the doom and gloom people?" she asked,observing Daphne's worried look.

"Look over there" she said pointing at Caroline,who was jumping up and bumping into couples dancing,while laughing crazily.

"Jeez,what the hell happened to her?,she's gone loopy"

"No,not just loopy, but also drunk"

"How much has she had to drink?"

"Well lets see,two bottles of wine completely drained and 3 shots of tequila"

"OMG,that is too much for her,but wait who brings tequila to a birthday party"

Daphne rolled her eyes "seriously, Lucy you sound like you don't know Caroline anymore,she carries that stuff about like its a water bottle"

Lucy laughed "do you remember that time Caroline got so drunk she got into brothel and dragged an old man to bed"

Daphne tried to stifle her laugher but blurted out and began laughing so much her stomach hurt. "We got in there just in time before she could do something more crazy".

"Yea,talk about getting laid by an old man in his 70s,Caroline got so mad when she got sober she ran back to that same brothel and set the managers hair on fire"

"An when the guy shouted "what the hell?!".

"She said, "that's for letting a drunk girl walk in here". They both chorused in unison and laughed.

Suddenly Caroline puked on the feet of Duchess Matilda. She screamed in terror and anger.

Daphne and Lucy looked at each other with shocked faces.

"Oops,party's over" Daphne said. As she and Lucy ran and grabbed Caroline and rushed out of the ballroom,apologizing to dear old Matilda.
