New Beginnings

Chapter 23

“Let’s go out tonight.” I smiled behind my cup of coffee. “It’ll be fun, we can drop Dalia off with Mike and just go have a ball.” Josh laughed and shook his head.

“We aren’t letting her out of our sights with your dad. You know what he’ll do.” I nodded.

“You’re right I do. But too late I made plans for us.” I smiled and took a sip from my coffee.

“What are they?” I raised my eyebrows and gave a suspicious smile.

“I don’t know; guess we’ll just have to find out.” I paused and put my cup in the sink. “I’m going to shower, mind waking Dalia and telling her to get ready?” Josh nodded and kissed my forehead.

“Love you.” I whispered “I love you too.” Then headed to the bathroom. After starting the shower I wiped make-up off my face from the day before and waited outside the shower door until the water was at the temperature I wanted it. Just before I stepped in a knock on the door startled me. I made sure the door was locked and asked who it was. Josh. I laughed, letting him in he waited until I was hidden in the steam to walk in. He sat on the toilet and started singing a song I hadn’t heard before.

“The slow and simple melody of tears you cannot keep from me. It’s alright if you don’t know what you need. I’m right here when you need someone to see it’s not speak or forever hold your peace. It’s alright to take time and find where you’ve been. You are perfect porcelain.” I smiled at the last part and felt like crying. I finished washing my hair and reached my hand out for a towel. “It’s on the door.” I laughed.

“Can you get it?” Through the door I saw Josh bite his lip and shake his head.

“Nope, you can.” He chuckled and sat still. I moaned and stepped out awkwardly. “It’s not like I haven’t seen you naked before.”

“Yeah but in the dark.” I ran to the door and quickly wrapped the towel around me. I smiled to Josh as I turned around and stood there staring at him.

“What?”

“Can you leave?” Josh shook his head. I sighed. I reached the door handle and opened the door. Locking it on the inside wouldn’t really do anything but I did it anyway. I stepped into the bedroom and searched for some underwear and a bra. I heard Josh jump off the toilet seat as I slipped into a pair of underwear and found a bra. The door handle shook but the door didn’t open. I laughed when Josh hadn’t figured out it was locked on the inside. I slipped on a pair of blue jeans (with rips everywhere) and found a black tank top.

“Josh you idiot.” I heard josh talking to himself before the door burst open. I just smiled and shook my head.

“You’re too cute.” He chuckled and walked up to me. Wrapping his arms around my waist I placed my head on his shoulder. “What am I going to do about my dad?” I shifted a bit until making the decision to crash into our bed. Josh followed and made me put my head on his lap so I was looking up at his unshaved chin.

“Well we can’t go out tonight if you’re worried.” I shook my head. “Fine, she’ll be okay with Mike… I think.” I shrugged.

“But what about after?” This time Josh shrugged and I bit my lip.

“Let’s just go get Dalia and head to the studio. I have some ideas to run across the guys.” Josh paused then remembered something. “Hey the album comes out in 2 days.” He smiled and lifted my head so he could slip off the bed. I sat up straight and stared at the door.

“I’m just going to stay here today.” Josh smiled and nodded.

“Alright.” He walked back over to me and kissed my forehead. “Love you.” I smiled kissed his cheek.
