Tonight is the guy’s last show for the tour. I hugged Josh before he went on stage then stepped outside for a bit. I felt around in Josh’s oversized and pulled out a cigarette. I hadn’t had one in forever so I searched for a lighter. Just after lighting the cigarette I heard a familiar voice behind me. “I didn’t know you smoked.” I raised my shoulders and tensed up. “Your mother wouldn’t be impressed.” I rolled my eyes and turned to see Jade. I smiled and surprisingly went in for a hug. She smiled and hugged me back.

“What are you doing here?” I throw the smoke to the ground and put it out with my foot. “Did my dad come with you?” Jade shook her head.

“Jared wanted to bring his daughter to the concert. She’s in love with the boys.” I smiled and waited for another answer. “And no, he’s not here. I saw you and came back to talk to you about him.”

“Should I sit?” I laughed and stepped back. Jade shook her head and smiled.

“I left him.” As rude as it was to smile I didn’t care. It’s what she needed to do. “I couldn’t take it anymore. Not after what had happened with you. I couldn’t take it.” I hugged Jade again and laughed.

“It’s what you needed. You don’t deserve his shit.” Jade pushed me away. “There’s something else?” Jade nodded.

“I went to return his truck yesterday and when I looked inside he was just lying on the floor. I didn’t know what to do other than call the cops.” My mouth fell open. “Someone was obviously done with his shit.” Inside I was okay with it. As demented as it was, I was glad someone finally beat some sense into him. Jade continued to tell me he was currently in the hospital recovering from six broken bones and head trauma.

“It’s what he gets.” I would have never said that to anyone but Jade, or Josh, they’re the only ones who would truly understand why I could care less about what had happened.

“I’ve got to go. But call me sometime; we could get coffee or something.” I nodded and smiled. Just before Jade walked away I stopped her.

“Tell Jared to meet me back here with his daughter.” Jared was my step brother, Jade’s son; he was 28 a single dad and lived just out of town. Jade gave me a questioning look then smiled.

“Will do.” I stepped inside and listened to the last half of the show. The guys had already done Porcelain and Josh was practically crying when he stepped off stage to change his outfit. I kissed his cheek and smiled.

“I’ll never leave you, just know that.” Josh kissed me quickly before being shoved along.

“My mom said you wanted to see me?” I laughed.

“We haven’t seen each other in how many years and you don’t give me a hug?” Jared and I were like real brother and sister when we were younger. He used to get upset whenever I would cut and then wouldn’t talk to me until I stopped. I was now wearing no sweater and you could see the various lines on my arms I crossed my arms and smiled bigger.

“Right, sorry.” He hugged me tight for a couple of seconds; long enough to ask if I was clean yet. I nodded to him as he stepped back. He smiled and straightened himself. “So?”

“I’ve got some news for Avery.” His daughter. “I just so happen to be dating the lead singer of the band.” Avery’s eyes got bigger along with her smile. “If it’s okay with dad we can go backstage and meet the whole band.” I looked to Jared and he laughed.

“We can’t be long, but sure why not.” Avery started jumping up and down, screaming at the top of her lungs; Jared grabbed her hand and pulled her along as we walked inside. Josh was sitting on the couch upside down while Matt sat on his stomach. Matt stood up when he saw Jared, so did Josh. I laughed and moved to the side.
