Adrian

This raid did not go well right from the very beginning. It all started when Bridget came to see us off. I mean that was sweet and all,  but it would have been easier for us to leave without seeing the sadness in her face. It seemed to really affect Leo because when a pack of zombies came in and started attacking he wasn't all that focused and well... you'll find out soon enough. Anyway, we all survived luckily. We started the long trip home.

Leo

Ouch. It hurts so much. Please someone make all the pain go away.

 Bridget

I wake up early thanks to the pounding in my head. I hate waking up with headaches and my head injury just made it worse. I look around and see Max is still sleeping. She looks so vulnerable, unlike when she's awake when she's actually pretty badass. Her vulnerability doesn't last long though. She wakes up and throws me a protein bar. I scarf it down greedily.

"Looks like someone was hungry." She says playfully. I nod. "Well, we should be getting you back home."

"Max. You saved my life and nursed me back to health. Mostly. Anyway, I insist that you come and join The Cure." I tell her.

"The Cure?" She asks.

"Yeah that's what we call our little group. That's not the point. You're all alone in the apocalypse and we could really use a fighter like you." She looked at me apprehensivily.

"Fine. I guess I will." She finally says.

"Good." She packs up what little belongings and supplies she has and we slowly but surely walk back to the base.

Olivia

The rest of them aren't happy to hear that Bridget's gone. But we don't dwell too much on that when the boys come crashing through the door. And it's not good.

Leo

I'm so tired. Maybe if I just close my eyes for a second...

Max

So I finally gave in and told Bridget I'd come back with her. But when we reached the base. It was not what I expected. It was this huge house/army base. It was a concrete building reenforced with steel beams. She did say her parents used it as a safe house. When we came crashing through the door, it was chaos. There was a bunch of people shouting and surrounding someone. Looked like a boy from here.

Bridget

When Max and I crashed through the door, I saw everyone crowding around one of the boys. "Hey, what's going on?" I shouted over them. They all went silent and turned towards me. "Well?"

Jonny spoke first. "We're so sorry Bridget we never meant for this to happen." I hurried over to the being on the floor. What I saw was horrifying. I screamed in horror at the sight of Leo. There he was with a huge wound in his chest and blood all over him.

"Leo!" I yelled at him. I'm on the verge of tears when he finally opens his big brown eyes. I smiled like I won a contest.

"Bridget?" He whispered.

"Yea?" I say, a tear escaping my eye and falling down my face.

"Shush. Don't cry." He says first and wipes the tear away. "I might not make it. And if I don't, I want you to promise yourself and me that you will not blame yourself."

"Leo-" He cut me off.

"Don't 'Leo' me. I need you to promise me."

"I promise." Another tear falls down my face. Everyone had left us alone for a little bit. "I need you to promise me something too."

"Anything."

"Promise me that you'll live."

"Bridget I don't know if I can promise that."

"You have to! Leo, I already lost one of my bestfriends because I wasn't there for them. I can't lose another. I can't live without you because you're the only thing keeping me alive. I know you told me a long time ago you don't like me like that, but this is more than a crush. I think I'm in love with you." He gawked at me. "And I shouldn't be telling you anything. I should just man up and kiss you." I plant a kiss on his lips before he objects or I lose the courage to do this. To my surprise, he kissed me back. He somehow found the strength to sit up and put his hand behind my head and hold me close. That kiss was incredible. The rest of the world faded away and it was just us, injuries and all. To my own surprise I was the one who pulled away first.

"What are you doing?" He asks me.

"I need air." I tell him and he laughs.

"Bridget. I love you. Of course I do. But I'm not sure if I'm quite in love with you yet." My smile fell.

"Hey I said yet." My face lit up again.

Max

I left with the others to give Leo and Bridget some privacy. I was just standing in the corner when I see him. Adrian. He is the same one from my childhood. The one I knew for like 10 years. The boy who I stole his first kiss from him. "Adrian?" I ask tentatively.

"Max?" He replies obviously very confused. "You're still alive?" He says and walks up to me.

"Of course I am. I'm Max." He laughs.

"I should've known."

"Yes. I thought you knew me better than that." We were slipping into a familiar pattern. "Now come here." I opened my arms and we hugged. Adrian and I have a very complicated history. I'm an orphan and his mom died and his dad... well his dad's a touchy subject for him. Actually I never knew my parents. They gave me up the day I was born. I was told by the countless foster homes I was in that when the doctors brought me back from getting my first checkup, the bed was empty and the window was open. My mother was gone and my dad apparently died before I was born.

He pulled away, with a conflicted look on his face. "This doesn't feel right."

"What do you mean?"

"Well, you know Bridget?"

"Of course." I reply.

"Well, I think I'm starting to fall for her."

"What?" I ask confused.

"Yeah. I gave her my mom's necklace."

"You said you'd only give that to the girl that you knew was the One."

"Yeah, but she's... different. Believe me Max, I've never gotten over you or have forgotten you. I think and worry about you all the time." I don't know why, but him telling me he's interested in another girl, hurt. I know I gave up my chance about 6 months ago, when he first confessed his love. I didn't love him like that and we had separated. This was the first time we'd seen each other in a really long time.

"I haven't forgotten you either," I tell him.
