Part 11: Funeral (RB)

   It had been a week after her unfortunate death, Snow and Henry were devastated the most.  Henry lost his mother and father all in the same day.  Snow lost her step-mother to heroism.  Emma was pretty upset, because she was going that they we would become friends, but that didn't happen.  David was a little upset, mostly sad for Snow, after her heroism he really did think that she could change, she just needed love and support. 

   It was the day of the funeral, most of the twin were there, so we're there to look sad, but really on the inside were so happy the Evil Queen was dead.  There was no member left of the Mills family, that they knew of.  Henry was a Mills, but he was adopted.  Snow, David, Henry, and Emma decided to write their own tributes to Regina.

   "It is unfortunate the passing that has become Regina Mills, family of Regina we are sorry for your loss, and she will be missed."  Archie spoke with a lump in his throat.  "Would anyone like to speak?"  He asked kindly.  Henry stood up and walked to the podium and wiped his tears away.  He hugged Archie tightly, which sent a pang through his heart and felt really bad for the boy. 

   He lowered the microphone to his level and stepped on a step on the podium.  He cleared his throat to try and hold back tears before he spoke. 

   David grabbed Snow's hand and held it tightly.  "My mom was a really great mom, I wished I could tell one more time that I love her, but I can't.  She died a hero, she may have been the Evil Queen in my book and to you all, but to me she was my mom and I love her.  I regret never really appreciating what she did for me, all she was trying to do was to keep me safe.  Yet, I left her alone.  So please if, you go by her grave, don't disrespect her, thank her, for saving you.  And I know she can hear me, so hi mom...I love you.  Thank you."  He finished and tears fell from his face and Emma was there to wipe them away, before she spoke.  She hugged her son. 

   "That was beautiful, Henry."  She whispered.

   Emma was at the podium.  "It's unfortunate that my friend has passed on, I think that we could've been besties-". She said some people smiled or chuckled, it was best to laugh or smile to bring some light to the dark day, even Henry smiled.  "Even though we use to despise each other, we are still family.  See was one heck of a fighter, she was tortured by two goons and then she tried saving the town.  She's not a villain, she's the definition of a hero.  She was willing to die for us, so can't we pay her back by some simple respect?  And according to Henry she's makes incredible lasagna and apple turnovers.  Thank you."  She smiled and left the podium. 

   It was now Snow's turn.  "Hello, everyone.  Hello Regina.  I know that you were the Evil Queen, but before, you were my mother and you were so kind to me, yet I deceived you.  I caused your heartbreak, I caused your fall into darkness and I wasn't there to pick you back up.  You were forced into royalty, manipulated into darkness, lied to, deceived, framed, tortured, and now you're gone.  My, you were a strong woman, you never gave up your fight for your son, and that's honorable.  You saved my life and yet I failed to keep a secret.  She died a hero, so rest in piece, Regina.  And just know that I love you.  Thank you."  She said tears running down her face.  David hugged her and told her it was all okay. 

   "I knew Regina for some time now, I just wish that I hadn't of been such a jerk to her.  I should of been helping her get with her son and I only took that from her.  She just wanted to be loved and we failed to do that.  On a lighter note, I have to admit her lasagna is amazing, perhaps better than Granny's-". He said with a chuckle and everyone smiled.  "I think we could've been friends to, I'd help her get a date, and I'd probably be overprotective and tell the guy that if he hurt her, he wouldn't see the light of day again-". The crowd chuckled again.  "So rest in piece, hero Regina.  Thank you."

   "Is that all who wanted to speak?"  Archie asked.  No one answered.

...

   "We're so sorry."  Red said with a sympathetic face and hugged Snow.

   "It's a shame, we could've had a cooking contest."  Granny lightly teased.  Henry walked up to her.  "I'm sorry for your loss Henry." 

    "It's ok, I know she's always with me."  He said with a small smile. 

   "That she is, kid."  David said patting him in the shoulder.

  They buried the casket in her vault.
