"What do we do?" I turn towards Garner, I can hear the own panic in my voice.

Garner is frozen into place.

"Rose, get to the back, now!" Bryn's voice is right by my ear.

I shake my head. "No, I'm fighting." My hands are shaking as I grip my sword tighter in my hand.

"Rose, listen to me. These things are dangerous."

"What are they?" I ask him.

His jaw clenches. "I don't know."

"Then how do you know they're dangerous?" I ask him.

He just scowls. "Just get behind me and don't touch any of them."

A couple of the guards had already run ahead of us to fight these things.

Their screams were filling my head as Bryn and I moved closer.

I didn't bother looking for Garner, he could take care of himself I'm sure.

"Bryn, watch out!" I shout and jump in front of him just as one of the creatures jump out and attack him.

I feel my skin burning and start to swing my sword angrily.

"Rose!" I hear my name as one of the creatures appears in my face.

It's skin is almost pure flame, it opens its mouth and lets out a horrible scream. I feel the heat on my skin as I swing my sword again, trying to get rid of it.

There's a hand on my shoulder and I'm jerked backwards as Bryn goes forward to fight it.

The ground is cold against my body as I push myself back up to my feet and look around desperately to figure out what's going on.

The fire creatures seem to be multiplying quicker than we can fight them. By the looks of it, some of the soldiers had already fallen.

"Rose, come on, we have to go." Garner is right in front of me.

All I can do is stare at him, the complete and utter horror of what was going on has shocked me too much to do anything.

Garner puts his hands on my shoulders and shakes me back to reality.

"Come on, we have to go." He says.

I shake my head. "We can't just leave them here."

"That's not our problem, come on." He starts to pull me back towards the castle, away from the fight.

Something red catches my eye from the corner of the field.

"Wait!" I shout. I pull away from Garner's grasp and start running full on towards the trees.

"Rose!" Garner screams.

I ignore his shouts and keep running.

One of the fire creatures grabs onto my waist, jerking me away from the forest.

I hear my own screams lace themselves with its own as my skin burns.

I begin to kick, hoping that I can hit it somewhere and it'd let go. That's when I remember my sword.

Pulling it out, I stab the creature in the arm. It lets out a piercing scream in my ear before dropping me to the ground.

I run off again towards the red thing that caught my eye.

"Rose!" I don't turn around when I hear my name, instead I continue running until I reach it.

The thing, I can't tell what it is, is almost blinding. I have to cover my eyes a little just to see where it is.
