"I'm here to see Michael Clifford." Brianna said.
"Oh, yes. He's in room 295. Second floor," the receptionist smiled. Brianna smiled back and led me to the elevator. I crossed my arms and looked at my feet the whole way up.
"Come on, Cathy," Brianna said. I coughed.
"This place smells like disease."
"Well, dumbass, it is a hospital."
"Yeah, I know," I said.
"Here. 295." Brianna said, opening the door, revealing Michael in a hospital bed. I walked over to him. He was asleep.
"Shh, he's asleep," I whispered. Brianna nodded. I walked over and grabbed a stool. I pulled it to the bedside and sat there for what seemed to be forever.
Eventually, he opened his eyes. He saw me and smiled. He reached for my hand.
"Cathy," he smiled. I smiled back.
"Hey, Michael." I said. He looked at the bedside table and saw an envelope, a stuffed lion, and a balloon.
"Hey, could you get me the letter?" he asked. I nodded and handed him the envelope. He opened it and read it out loud.
"Dear Michael, I heard about your accident. I'm so sorry. I got caught up with school, and I can't come and visit. But, I found your old lion, Daniel. I swear, the second I have some spare time I'm hauling ass to come see you. Oh, and I found a coven! Get better, from Ashton,"
"Who's Ashton?" I asked.
"An old friend." Michael chuckled.
"Oh." I said.
"So, did you find a place?"
"Huh?"
"For us to live, Cathy!" Michael said. I laughed.
"No, not yet. I've been kind of busy thinking about how my boyfriend is in the hospital,"
"Boyfriend? You're making it official?"
"Yep. I am." I smiled.
"That's great." he smiled, leaning up to kiss me.
There was a knock on the door.
"Uh, come in!" Michael said. The door creaked open.
There stood a girl with black hair, and blue tips. She had on thin eyeliner with gray eyeshadow. She was really pretty.
"Michael?" she asked, walking towards us. He turned his head.
"April!" he said, beaming. I looked at the floor and got up. I started walking to the door.
"Cat, where are you going?" Michael asked.
"Oh, I'm just gonna get some coffee. I'll come by later, I'll let you two catch up," I said, opening the door.
"No! I mean... April, this is Catherine, my girlfriend," Michael said. I smiled and waved.
"Hi," I said.
"Hi! Sorry if I was intruding!"
"No, no, no! You're fine. I'll come back later," I said.
"Have you seen Ashton?" Michael asked.
"Nah, son. Not since graduation." she said. I closed the door behind me and walked to the coffee shop.
"How can I help you?" the barista asked.
"Chai tea latte and a vanilla frap," I said. She nodded and started making the coffee.
"So, are you jealous? Is that why you left?" Brianna asked.
"No! He was just in a fire, and the world-famous April came by! I'm gonna let him and his best friend get reacquainted while I drink my tea," I said. Brianna raised an eyebrow.
"Chai latte and vanilla frap for Cathy!" the barista said. I walked over and grabbed my coffee, handing her the money.
"Hey, if you're jealous that's fine!" Brianna said, not realizing that I was serious.
"I am not jealous! Calm your tits!" I said.
"Fine! But let's go back up," Brianna said.
"Fine," I said. I took a sip of my tea as I walked to the elevator. We got in and I pressed the second floor button.
"So, where are you and Michael gonna live?"
"I was thinking a small apartment." I said, opening the door to his room. April and Michael were talking quietly.
"Hey," April said. I smiled.
"Hi. Am I interrupting?"
"No, it's cool," Michael said, smiling at me.
"Okay." I said, sitting down on the chair I previously occupied.
"I'm April," she smiled.
"I'm Cathy."
"So, did Michael say anything about..."
"Bringing your undead boyfriend back to life?" I asked, sipping my drink. She seemed uncomfortable. "Yeah, he's mentioned it once or twice."
"And you're not wierded out by that?"
"No, not at all. I believe in ghosts and witches and shit. If you say there's a ghost then there's a ghost," I said.
"Oh... so are you helping us?" she asked.
"That was the plan until Michael ended up here," I said.
"Alright. Well, I'm happy to be working with you," she smiled. Obviously a fake smile. Haha...
What a bitch. I could see through her petite, kind façade.
It's obvious Michael couldn't.
Or maybe she just didn't like me. I'm crazy, what am I saying? I don't know the girl!
"So, when are you gonna be released?" Brianna asked.
"Tomorrow. I should be well enough to go out and see apartments," Michael smiled at me. I showed a weak smile back at him.
"Alright. I'll find some places and call them to see if we can view the apartments." I said.
"Yay. I love you, Cathy," Michael smiled.
"I love you, too, Michael." I said.
"Aww! I ship it!" April said. I laughed.
Michael took a strand of blonde hair from my head and twirled it in his fingers.
"Stop that!" I laughed.
"No, I don't want to,"
"I said stop," I chuckled.
"I do what I want, I'm punk rock,"
"No you're not," April and I said in unison.
