A/N: I'm sorry okay

Updating has been such a slow process. So much is going on right now it's hard to find both the motivation and the time to write and it's just been very difficult. So I apologize immensely for the long wait.

I've also been worried about the story line and how interesting this book is, as I get with every book I write. I always get this feeling when writing a new book. It sucks.

I won't keep you waiting any longer.

Bye xx

Chapter 9 ~ Misjudged

Jacob P.O.V

"Riley hurry up!" America shouts down the hallway of our apartment.

Me and Chase are slumped casually on the couch while Mare stands impatiently. Chase has decide to tag along to the party just because he has the hots for America.

Yes, I did tell him she already has a boyfriend, who I found out is much older than Mare and doesn't bother going to lame college parties. That's why no one ever sees him.

"I'm ready."

We all turn to look at Riley as she enters the living room. She wears a tight black dress that cuts off just above her knees. It is strapless, and she has simple, black high heels on to match.

"Holy shit." The words slip from my mouth before I can catch them.

I instantly blush as everyone turns to look at me.

"Um, I mean, you look great." I stutter awkwardly to Riley and stand up.

"Thank you, not too bad yourself." She nods and everyone begins to follow me out the door.

I am the designated driver for tonight (I volunteered) so we are taking my car. America doesn't have a car anyway and Riley only has her motorbike. Chase borrows his parents' spare car from time to time since they live nearby but otherwise relies on me or other friends to get him around.

We all pile in, with me and Chase in the front and the girls in the back. As we drive, America calls out directions for me to follow as I'm clueless as to where this party is. I don't really go to parties often unless other people invite me to go with them.

We finally arrive at the large house and everyone exits the car slowly. The air is humid, so even though it's dark, it isn't that cold outside.

Riley almost trips as she hops down onto the ground, and my arms instinctively reach out to catch her. She grips my forearm to regain her balance before letting go and standing up straight.

"Thanks," She chuckles. "I haven't even had anything to drink and I'm already falling over."

"Best to keep it light tonight then." I suggest as we head inside.

It is a standard party. Drinks in the kitchen, people lounging in the living room. Only this party has the dance floor down in the basement, and you can feel the floor vibrate with the base in the music. We all grab drinks before heading into the living room to sit and relax.

I slump into one end of a couch and Riley sits at the other end with a cigarette between her fingers. Chase and America take seats in nearby recliners.

"I forgot to say sorry about my brother rocking up at your apartment this morning." Riley leans over to speak to me.

"It's ok, really."

"It is just some stuff going on with my parents and everything that he wanted to speak to me about."

"Anything I can help with?" I offer.
