Chapter 10

A hesitant Nandini opened the door and walked into Manik's room.

Manik began his act and closed his eyes as if he was asleep.

Nandini look around the room,
Black silk bed sheet and Black curtains.

Suits his Monster personality, thought Nandini.

He is sleeping, now what do I do?

Should I wake him up, but he is unwell.

Nandini looked at him helplessly, but he looks so cute while sleeping

Nandini, shut up. What are you thinking? She came out of the trance.

You are here to work Nandini, let's focus on that.

Let me call Cabir sir. Nandini picked out her phone

While Fab 5 quietly laughed at her plight and childish acts.

Nandini moved a little far from the bed to call Cabir and accidentally hit the vase on the side table.

Thud, it fell and broke into pieces and Nandini covered her face with fear.

Oh shit, she mumbled

Manik quickly sat up and was staring at her face, with fear written all over it.

Nandini looked up to see Manik awake and found him staring, which scared her all the more.

Sir, actually, I.. Nandini stammered

I am sorry, I mean I didn't mean to,

Nandini kept blabbering and that irritated Manik.

Stop it, Manik shouted angrily.

Nandini stopped speaking and stood still

Fab4 came out and sat with Manik.

Nandini was confused but also really shocked so she just stood there blankly staring at all of them.

Cabir tried to clear the air,

So Nandini, here you are. Let me introduce to Fab5,
This is Mukti, Dhruv, Alia and well you have met me and your boss.

Nandini was intimidated, but she said a shy Hello to all of them

So you are Manik's new PA, Mukti said looking at Nandini

Yes Ma'am, Nandini replied

Oh god, Please chill. Manik is your boss, don't call me Ma'am, you can call me Mukti.

Mukti said with a hint of sarcasm in her tone, which others guessed.

Nandini felt a little relieved and thought that they are just normal friends and she'd be okay.

Little did she know, what was coming her way.

Hey, Manik you have fever na, Aliya asked in a concerned tone

And Manik got back to putting up a show

Yes Aliya, my head hurts.

Wait, you can't take your medicines without eating.

Even I am hungry, Dhruv Joined

And Cabir got an idea and said, Nandini would you mind getting some food for Manik before we start working?

Oh, that'd be great. Get something for us too, Mukti requested.

And a naive Nandini believed them and quickly agreed.

Yes, I'll be right back Cabir Sir.

Nandini ran downstairs. She was concerned about Manik's health so she made some healthy Khichdi for him and a nice Pasta for the rest of the gang.

Nandini was a very homely person, she liked cooking and she really felt good that she could be of some help.

She came back upstairs with the food

Oh, you are back, that was quick! Exclaimed Mukti.

So what did you make, I am so hungry, Dhruv asked with a smirk.

She served the Khichdi to Manik and Pasta to rest of them

Manik saw the food and made a face.

What have you got for me, he asked all annoyed

Sir, this is Khichdi, you are unwell, so I thought you should have something healthy.

Cabir and others laughed loudly at Manik's reaction

Yes, yes, Nandini you are absolutely right, Cabir and Mukti praised her while Manik gave them angry looks

Manik, you eat Khichdi, Dhruv joined in the teasing session

Aww, poor boy, Aliya added.

They started to eat, and Mukti looked up and said
'What the hell. What is this?'

Nandini startled, she didn't know what was wrong

What happened? She asked innocently.

This is so tasteless, Mukti snarled

Yes, you don't even know how to cook pasta? Aliya asked

Nandini's face fell and tears brimmed in her eyes

Manik felt guilty, it pinched his heart seeing her face.

He didn't feel like continuing the act, he ate the khichdi and said 'This is nice, Mukti and Alia want a bite?"

Mukti and Alia stared at Manik in shock, why would he not play along?

Nandini still didn't know what to say, so she just kept looking at Manik

Cabir, as usual, had to be the savior of the day

He changed the topic and said 'Nandini let's go down and finish our work'

She agreed and they left, Cabir signaled Manik that he'll handle it before he walked off with Nandini

As soon as they left, Mukti hit Manik

Manik, it was going so great why did you spoil it? Mukti asked.

Yes, it was so much fun, Aliya laughed

Manik gave some lame excuses and tried to divert the topic.

Even he didn't know why did he do that. She is just an employee who he has known for like 2 days

Why would he protect her? What was this strange connection that they had?

Manik didn't want to dive into thinking that, so he just went back to having fun with his friends

Cabir discussed things with Nandini and then she left

On her way home, Nandini thought about what all happened today

Meeting Fab5, those rude comments, but out of all Manik supporting her?

Wasn't he supposed to be a monster?

But he is a cute Monster? Maybe he is nice? She thought

No, Nandini. Are you mad? He might kill you tomorrow for all that you did today.

Nandini was lost in figuring out, what this person was.

But both of them felt something strange, which they were yet to discover.
