Office Office!

Chapter 16

A new morning, new challenges, and new twists that Manik and Nandini were completely unaware of.

Manik woke up like it was a regular day, he got ready to go back to the office after the short trip. He had a lot of questions in his head. He wanted to confront Nandini about leaving abruptly, why does she want to stay away and so much more. He was angry but he was also really concerned about her.

He entered the office and through his cabin, he kept looking for Nandini, she had not arrived yet. 
He was getting worried and anxious, wondering if she was okay. If something happened to her.
He mentally yelled at himself to shut up and stop caring for a stranger and reminded him that he only has Fab5 as his friends and nobody else has a place. He tried to shoo away thoughts about Nandini.
But nothing worked. He was really impatient, so he called the receptionist to ask about Nandini and where is she.

He asked the receptionist in a stern tone 'Where is Miss Murthy, why hasn't she arrived yet?' The receptionist was scared thinking about how angry he is and didn't reply for a minute and Nandini entered the office right then

Why aren't you speaking? Hello? Manik shouted. The receptionist replied in a meek voice, 'Sir, she is here. I'll send her in right away'. Manik banged the phone and heaved a sigh of relief.

The receptionist warned Nandini of Manik's mood and said 'You are so dead today.' Nandini didn't pay heed to her words and walked towards the cabin. She knocked on the door and Manik let her in.

Good Morning, sir, Nandini wished him with her chirpy voice.
Manik felt better but he put his poker face and asked her 'Why are you late, Miss Murthy?'
Sorry, sir. I got stuck in traffic, Nandini replied quickly in a low voice. 

Where are my project.., before Manik could finish the sentence. Nandini handed over the files and said 'Here are you files sir, I have a lot of work to do, can I leave now?' She spoke in a go and Manik was left stunned.
He nodded and Nandini left the cabin.

She went back to her desk.
'God, please don't make this difficult for me. I don't want to speak much to him', she prayed and then got back to work.

Manik's face had turned red with anger.
What does she think of herself? Does she think I care for her? Oh, hell no. Miss Murthy, two can play this game and now I'll show who you have messed with, Manik muttered to himself.

He called her desk, she picked up the call unaware of the fact that it's Manik.
Hello, Malhotra industries, Nandini Murthy speaking, she responded.
Oh, Miss Murthy, it is me, Manik replied.
Nandini didn't react and moved on saying 'Yes, sir. What can I do for you?'

Mmhm, I want, mmm.. Manik fumbled a bit because he had not thought of an excuse.

Oh, I want the Kapoor Industries Presentation ready by tomorrow, Manik ordered.

But sir, tomorrow, it's too quick, Nandini tried to explain
Manik didn't listen to her and said 'Do, what is told to you and start working on the presentation, I don't need any excuses.'

Okay, sir, she gave up on explaining to him and started working hurling abuses to him in her head.

Manik smirked because he knew his plan is working and he left the office right after.
He had called up Fab5 for practicing at his house.

Everyone had already arrived and they were waiting for Manik.
Hello, guys. The party has started without me? That's not fair, Manik whined.

Where were you ass? Mukti slapped him lightly. 
Chill Mukti, office work had piled up because our mini trip, cut him some slack. Cabir saved Manik from Mukti's wrath.

Okay, let's go practice now, Alya announced and they got lost there. They were having fun, pulling each other's leg, and having the time of their lives.
Manik was completely lost in his little world and he totally forgot everything related to Nandini and his anger.

Writer's Pov

I believe in life the most important thing you can earn is Friendship. I don't know the definition of friendship, it's different for everybody right, but I do know there are people who touch your heart, who sometimes understand you more than your family. There are times that we feel that we can only confide in them. They won't judge, they will be there for you in all the ups and downs, in laughter, sadness, and everything else. If you have got a handful of people who are there for you always, never leave them. Take care of them, treasure them, and never forget to be grateful for having them.

This is what Fab5 meant to Manik, they were his lifelines, he cannot imagine his world with them and he'd do anything to keep them safe and happy.

While Manik was lost in his beautiful bubble. Nandini was working her ass off to finish the presentation. She skipped her meals and was feeling dizzy but she didn't give up. She knew Manik did that on purpose and she didn't want to lose face. Everyone had left the office except for her. Suddenly, the lights went off. She realized that the guards were closing the office.
She ran out to stop them but they had already finished up and left and now Nandini was stuck in the office.
