I cuddled up next to Liam on the couch as we watched the end of Toy Story 3.
He wrapped his arms around me & placed the palm of his right hand onto my tummy.
I looked to him & smiled, "She's kicking babe."
Liam curved his lips into a smile as he looked down at my baby bump. Less than a minute later, I felt another kick. Liam's face lit up.
He looked back to me, staring into my eyes. I leaned forward to receive a small kiss from Liam's soft lips. I leaned in closer to him, deepening the kiss.
"Wait, wait, how are we going to do this?" Liam asked, raising a eyebrow.
"The regular way. It's not like we can't, babe."
Liam smiled then said, "Well, carry on."
I pressed my lips to Liam's forcefully. I grasped onto the hem of his shirt and was about to pull it over his head when I felt liquid trickle down my leg. I stopped my movement and pulled away from him.
"She's ready."
Liam's eyes lit up, "Really?!"
I nodded my head smiling. Liam quickly stood up and ran to the front of our flat, grabbing the bags that were already packed.
As he was about to run out the door I shouted, "Are you forgetting something?"
Liam came to a complete stop then turned around, running towards me. He carefully helped me up off the couch and out of our flat.
As we got in the car, Liam held onto my hand, "We're going to be parents. Parents! Alyssa, we're having our daughter!"
"Liam, I know this is an amazing thing and everything but you need to calm your ass down and drive us to the nearest hospital before I get the worst contractions, okay?"
Liam put the key into the ignition as he nodded, "Okay."
***
I sat in the hospital bed with Liam sitting next to me in a chair. I hadn't gotten any excruciating contractions yet but I knew there were few to come.
I felt my heart race increase a bit as I thought of actually giving birth to a kid. I've read so many books about how painful it is and what happens to your body.
The thought just scares me. The fact that a human being is about to come out of me scares me. I could feel my stomach turn over just thinking about what pain I'd be in.
Liam could see my skin go pale & asked, "Alyssa, are you okay?"
I slowly shook my head as tears began to stream down my face. Liam instantly stood up, wrapping his arms around me.
"Liam, I'm scared."
"Of what?"
"Having a baby. Just the thought is scaring me. I-I don't want to do this," I cried even harder, barely able to get the words out.
"Babe, don't be scared. Don't think of the pain you're going to go through. Think of what happens after. Think of holding our little angel. Think of how she'll look, who's eyes she'll have, who's smile she'll get. Think of the good things. Think of the happy things that are about to happen."
I brought the back of my hand up to my face and gently wiped away the tears.
"Thank you, baby," I said in a shaky voice.
Liam kissed my cheek, "You're welcome, babe."
I calmed myself down by the time my doctor opened the door. She walked over to Liam & I with a smile, "A little nervous?"
