Layla was an average teenage girl. She was nice to everyone & put others needs before hers. Almost Everybody liked Layla, almost everybody. But no matter how hard it was to be liked by everyone, Layla pushed aside the haters & was living up her Senior year of high school.
There was something wrong with her though, but no one knew she had flaws until she met a young man who will become the love of her life.
Harry.
The nineteen year old was held back & was finishing his last year of high school with Layla. From the moment they met eyes they knew there was something between the two of them.
Like Layla, everybody liked Harry. He was a popular. But a cool popular, not a snotty, stuck up one. Harry was adored by people. Girls wanted to be with him while guys wanted to be him. Everything that was smiles & waves on the outside was actually pure hell & agony on the inside. Something was wrong with Harry as well, but no one knew.
Layla & Harry were different from within but seemed to be the happiest couple in the world. But on the inside, they couldn't take the pain for so much longer. They received help from people but nothing worked. The pain only seemed to increase.
It was a Friday night when they seemed to push their worries away, but only made things worse.
Prom night.
Harry picked up Layla & was amazed by how astonishing she looked. He still couldn't believe how he had a girlfriend as enchanting as her.
Layla thought the same thing. She was so worried about her problems ruining her chances with Harry but, in the end, ended up being this wonderful guy's girlfriend.
They were both confused on how they were together with their problems getting in the way but learned that not everyone was perfect. You just had to grow to love your partner's flaws.
As Harry held Layla's hand while they entered the school gym her heart fluttered. She continued to blush & smile at her charming boyfriend.
He smiled back at her & kissed her on the cheek before pulling her onto the dance floor. He placed his large hands onto her sides while her hands latched together behind his neck.
The two of them swayed back & forth along with the other couples dancing to the slow, romantic song. Layla & Harry made small talk but mostly gazed into each others eyes during the song.
All was perfect until Layla heard the familiar voices from before.
"He's not into you." "Get over yourself, he'll just dump you after he gets what he wants." "He's too good for you." "You'll never be perfect to him." "You're not good enough." "Die."
Her smile turned into a frown as the words struck her. She felt her body tense up & soon the feeling of paranoia concerned her. Her eyes rapidly looked around the gym. She didn't know why but she was paranoid about something.
"What's wrong?" Harry asked as he tipped her chin up with his thumb & index finger, gazing into her eyes.
She didn't answer. She couldn't answer.
"Is it happening?" He asked.
She nodded while biting her bottom lip, trying her best not to shed a single tear.
Harry took her hand & led her outside of the gym & to a small garden off to the side where no one could see the two of them.
Once alone with Harry, Layla let the tears stream down her cheeks, ruining her makeup as mascara smeared down her face.
