"Mandy, are you coming to the party tonight?"

I shrugged my shoulders as I leaned against the brick building that I'd just left from.

"I don't know. Depends how I feel."

"Well, you're a party pooper," my best friend Tracy joked.

I gave her a weak smile as I changed the subject.

"So, how's your job at the coffee shop going?"

"Oh no, don't do that Mandy."

"Do what?" I raised an eyebrow even though I knew what she meant.

"Just try to change the subject on me. You're going to this party. I don't care if you say you don't feel like it, I know you wanna go. Be ready at seven, I'll swing by to get ya."

And with that she swiftly turned on her heels & walked towards her car.

I really wasn't that thrilled to think of going to a house party at an upperclassman's house but since I was invited by a few upperclassmen I thought I'd go.

I made it home & called out for my roommates. Like on every Friday night, I got no reply.

I walked to the kitchen to find a note on the fridge that said they were out of town & wouldn't be back until Sunday evening.

It irritated me a bit on how they just decide to leave me a note & not tell me beforehand but at least I'd have the house to myself for the weekend, well at least that is on Saturday.

I had a snack before heading upstairs & to my bedroom. My bag was thrown to the floor & my body collapsed onto my bed.

I turned on my stereo & played some old rock songs & closed my eyes, trying to relax my body.

I must've dozed off because when my eyes opened the sky was no longer blue but orange & my clock said it was six thirty. Shit. I should just text Tracy & tell her I'm not going but I'll make her happy this one time.

I rummaged through my closet until I found a pair of ripped jeans & a plain white v-neck. I put on the clothing before turning on my straightener & doing my makeup as it warmed up.

Like everyday, I put on a thin line of eye liner under my eyes & just a bit of mascara. After I decided my makeup was somewhat decent I began to straighten my hair when I got a text from Tracy saying she was ten minutes away.

I finished with my hair faster than I thought I would then put on a pair of white Chuck Taylor's before heading out the door when I heard a car horn.

I made sure I had my phone in my pocket & that all the doors were locked before heading out.

Tracy & I talked on the way there about some of the guys who were supposed to be there & who was single & what if we were asked out. But for it only being our second year in college we wouldn't have any luck.

I'd get a few glances here & there & have been mistaken for someone older several times but never asked out by any of those guys.

As we pulled up to the large brick house I got a weird feeling in the pit of my stomach to see a very familiar curly haired boy yet a stranger walk into the house. He looked so familiar but I know I couldn't know him.

As we walked in we were handed a red solo cup. I took a drink of it to have the bitter taste ruin my taste buds.

I set the cup on a counter & rummaged through the crowded house until I found Tracy who was having a shot with some random guy.
