"What is that noise?" My father asks, looking up at the ceiling. "It's Blair playing her guitar, Father. She's probably playing it one last time for Rose before she leaves and moves in with you." I say, standing up slowly. "Let's go see her." Vladimir says, walking out of my office, towards the stairs leading to the top floor. I follow closely after him. We look into Blair's room to see my daughter sitting on the floor in front of Blair, watching her, as Blair plays a sad song. I look at my sister's face and notice tears running down her cheeks. "Blair...." I whisper, tears coming to my OWN eyes. I watch as Blair looks up from her guitar and looks at me, tears running down her cheeks. "Blair....What WAS that song?" Vladimir asks, his voice full of curiosity. "It was a song Evan wrote for our one year anniversary of us being together. That's our song." Blair says, softly. I quietly walk over to her and sit down beside her on her old bed. Play another, I think in my head. I'm afraid to say it out loud because I don't want her to start crying yet again. To hell with it! She's amazing! I open my mouth to say she should play another, when, "Play another song, Blair." My father says, leaning against the doorway. Blair jolts and looks at our father, stunned. "R-Really, Daddy? Y-You want me to play another?" She asks, looking shocked. I turn my head to look at what his response is and I'm shocked to see him smiling and nodding his head. "Yes, Blair, I want you to play another song. Would you, please?" He asks, moving slowly towards the bed and sitting on Blair's other side. Blair looks between me, Rose, and our father, then looks down at her guitar. She slowly strums the strings once more, then a bit faster, turning it into a slow song. She starts to sing words to the song. I look down at Rose to see her curl up on her side and close her eyes. I listen carefully to the words and yawn. Wow. She's really good with singing and playing guitar, I think to myself. I force my eyes to stay open as the song starts to put me to sleep. "Very good, Blair. You are very talented with the guitar and with your voice." Father says softly, jolting me awake. I shake my head to clear the drowsiness. "Lestat? Are you okay?" I hear my sister ask me. I turn my head to look at her and see her face drawn with confusion and concern. "Y-Yes, Blair, I am fine. Your music is very good, by the way." I tell her, wrapping an arm around her shoulders and pulling her close to my side. "Th-Thanks, Lestat. Th-That means a lot to me." She stammers, a light blush appearing on her cheeks. I'm fascinated by it because vampires usually do not blush. I poke her cheek, just like I used to when she was a child. "H-Hey! What was that for!?" She cries, pulling away from me. My father and I burst out laughing at her reaction. "Blair, I used to do that to you when you were a mere child, remember?" I ask her, wiping tears of laughter from my eyes. She blushes again and looks down at her hands. "Yeah, I do remember that, but you seem to forget, Lestat. I don't have all of my memories back yet. There's still some gaps in my memory. It's scary how, every time someone mentions something that I did when I was a child, the memory comes back immediately, but it comes back with some pains. The pain is lessening more and more each time a memory comes back, but it's still there." Blair says, clenching her hands together as she stares at them. I watch, silently, as tears fall onto her hands. "Blair....It's nothing to be afraid of. This is what happens to every vampire who's been turned into a human, then back into a vampire. When a vampire is turned into a human, they lose all memory of ever being a vampire. Then, when they are turned BACK into a vampire, their memory starts coming back in pieces, along with pain. The pain seems to lessen as time goes on and memories start coming back at a quicker rate. This is normal, except it is not every day that a vampire is turned into a human, then back into a vampire." Our father explains, putting a hand on Blair's head. Blair looks up at our father through the hair falling over her eyes. I gently brush it away so that we can see her eyes. Her eyes flick to me, then back to our father. "Wh-What are you saying, Dad? That there have been other vampires who have been turned into humans?" She asks, confusion on her face. Our father nods his head, looking sad. "Wh-Who else was turned into a human!? What other vampires?!" Blair cries suddenly, jumping up off her bed. Our father takes a step back at her sudden enthusiasm. "I-I cannot reveal all that information, Blair. The only one that I can reveal was your uncle and my oldest brother, Vincent. You have never met him, but I shall send word to him, telling him that my own daughter has had the same experience that he has had when he was a child himself. He shall be very interested in this information, plus the information that he has a niece. He was never informed that my wife, Mina, your mother, had given birth to a girl. He has only met your brother and that is the only child he knows of. I must contact him as soon as we get home, Blair. It shall take me a while to write him a letter, then send it. It shall also take him a while to reply. He may want to visit us to get to know you better, my daughter. Would you allow that?" Our father asks, looking at Blair. I start to shake. I never liked Uncle Vincent. He gave me bad feelings the last time he visited the manor. I open my mouth to tell my father so when I hear Blair say, "Yes! I would very much like to meet Uncle Vincent! Can we get home soon so that you may contact him?" I jerk my head to look at my baby sister in shock. Our father nods his head, smiling at her, "Yes, Blair. We may leave and head home. Do you have all your things?" He asks, tilting his head a bit to the right. "Yes, Dad, I do. Thank you for bringing me here to gather it all." She says, smiling back at him. Our father nods his head once more, turns, and leaves the room. Blair picks up her guitar and puts it back in its case. She straps it onto her back and turns to head out of the room. I grab a hold of her wrist and stop her. "Blair, wait! Whatever you do, you must NOT tell Uncle Vincent of your powers. He must not learn that you have wings and that your eyes change color when you are hungry. You must feed before he arrives to Father's house. Do you understand?" I warn her, tightening my grip on her wrist a bit. "Why, Lestat? What's wrong with Uncle Vincent? Why shouldn't I tell him of my powers?" She asks me, wincing a bit at the strength of my grip. I loosen it a bit, then look her dead in the eyes and say, "Because, Blair, he was the one who killed Mother, not your adoptive parents. Vincent learned that Mother had spoken to vampire hunters and thought that she had betrayed Father. I witnessed it all when I was a child, little older than you when you were a child. Uncle Vincent had visited while it was just Mother, you, and I were home. Father was away at Court, discussing important things with the High Council. Uncle Vincent arrived here and asked to see Mother. Our butler at the time allowed him entry and showed him the way to Mother's sitting room. Mother was in the room, as was I. Before Vincent arrived, Mother told me to take you and hide. She told me to mask our scent, so that Vincent would be fooled into thinking that it was just her in the house. I started to argue, but she handed you to me, a little baby, and shoved me into the next room and closed the door. She had whispered through the door at me to mask our scent again, this time in an urgent voice, which I followed her orders. About an hour later, our butler and Uncle Vincent arrived in the room. Mother went over to greet him with a hug. They sat down and began to talk. Blair, I heard all of what they were saying. Uncle Vincent outright said that he knew Mother had been conversing with vampire hunters and plotted to kill Father. Mother was outraged. She smacked him across his cheek and told him that she would never plot to kill her husband, whom she loved with her Undead heart. Uncle Vincent grabbed her by the throat and slammed her against the wall, cracking it. She couldn't breathe, yet she still fought him. He had hissed at her that he would do whatever it took to protect his littlest brother. Then, I watched as he pulled a stake out of his inner coat pocket and rammed it through Mother's chest, through her heart. As Mother was dying, Uncle Vincent started to laugh hysterically, then pierced Mother's neck with his fangs and began to drink her blood. The entire time this was happening, you were asleep in my arms in the next room. Vincent then left, leaving Mother to fall to the ground with a stake in her chest. I left the room we had been hiding in and ran over to Mother's body. With her dying breath, Mother told me to take you to the famous vampire hunters and leave you on their doorstep. She gave me instructions. I was to set you on the porch, ring the doorbell, and disappear. I followed Mother's orders and did exactly that. I arrived home to find Father bent over Mother's body. I pretended to not know what had happened. Father changed after Mother's death and your disappearance. Blair, whatever you do, do NOT allow Father to reveal your powers to Vincent. He shall surely try to use you to take over the High Council!" I reveal to her.
