I tried to be as quiet as possible, only talking when someone asked if I was asleep. I was sat next to Caspar which for the first time in a while I didn't actually mind it. I just stared the window like I usually did and listened to all the screaming going around. All of a sudden the car pulled to a stop. I looked up and saw that some dumbass had changed the signal. He looked right at me and I happily gave him the middle finger.
"Joe be polite." Alfie exclaimed, as I quickly put my finger down.
"He's the one that changed the signa! He deserves to be flipped off!" I retorted as the light turned green.
"We're almost there calm down." Tanya mumbled, shooting us both dirty looks. Then it hit me. They had such a great friendship and I ruined it. I'm the one that caused Tan to give Alfie that look. I looked down at my lap, disappointed in myself. I felt a hand on my back and looked up to see Caspar.
"It wasn't your fault don't get yourself down."
I smiled at him as Zoe pulled the camper van to a stop and we all got out. I tripped on someones leg and fell right out onto my stomach. I pushed myself back up and put a hand on my chest. It hurts like hell! I forced myself to walk as fast as I could even though it felt like I was dying. We walked inside and stood there waiting for a waiter or waitress to seat us. I was standing behind Caspar, hoping to not be noticed. I saw a waitress walk up and smile.
"How many are with you today?" She asked smiling, "Let me take a guess. Six."
"Seven!" I exclaimed, still standing behind Caspar. She furrowed her brow but, nodded anyway. I followed behind Caspar, as people stared at us walking by. I didn't like the attention on me. That's why this was so uncomfortable for me. We all took our seat and I got stuck between Jim and Marcus. Just my luck. She gave us menus and gave me a younger kid one.
"Excuse me but, I'm 24." I explained, looking at the menu.
"No, no. You're clearly trying to grow up to fast." She smiled, walking off. I bit my bottom lip as the rest of the group laughed at me. I knew if I tried to run away to the bathroom they'd just laugh more. I flipped over the piece of paper and looked at the all the activities. I pulled a pen out of my pocket then, quickly shoved it back in. Find a different way to pass time Suggy. Look at the food item on the menu. Don't look at anyone else at the table. Save yourself.
I looked at the food and decided to go with some Spaghetti and meatballs. Seemed safe enough. The waitress came back and we told her what we wanted to drink and eat. I asked for a coffee and she looked at me like I was mental. She was forced to nod and go with it anyway. I looked down at my lap while everyone talked and laughed. I decided to do something to pass the time so I pulled out my phone. Once our drinks were brought she hurried off, giving me a look.
"I don't think she likes you Joe." Jim teased as I blew at the coffee and took a drink, burning my mouth only the slightest . I just shook my head and sat the glass down. I could see Jim and Marcus staring at eachother, like they were saying something secret. I just sighed and picked up the hot coffee again getting ready to take a quick drink. Then both boys elbowed me and coffee landed on my arm.
"For god's sake that freaking hot." I mumbled, reaching for my napkin as my arm seemed to be melting away. My eyes watered up from the burning as I realized they'd took my napkin. Most likely the first time I took a drink. I automatically reached for Marcus' and he gave Jim a sad look. I opened it up and began wiping at my arm. I sat the napkin back down infront of him and folded my arms.
"Are you okay Joe?" Zoe asked, concern in her voice.
"Never been better." I laughed sarcastically. She frowned and dipped a spoon into her water, pulling out a icecube.
"Here, to help cool it down." she explained, carefully passing me the spoon. I grabbed the ice off and handed the spoon back. I sat the ice on my arm and looked at it. I ran my finger around the ice and saw little pieces of salt. How did they know she was going to do that? It began hurting and I sat the ice back on the table, saying thank you to her even though I didn't mean it.
"Here's you meal, please enjoy!" she exclaimed, sitting our plates in front off us. I saw my napkin was back and took out my fork. I stuck it in the middle of the noodles and began spinning around like a twister. Zoe had taught me this trick the first time I ever had spaghetti. It was pretty neat at the time and I've done it ever since. She gave me a cheeky smile as I put the fork in my mouth and pulled them all off.
But nothing lasts forever. The quietness was quickly ruined when Jim knocked my plate into my lap. I picked up the plate and sat it back on the table as a group of noodles and meatballs sat on my pants.
"Jim what the hell?" I mumbled, grabbing a couple meatballs and sitting them back on the plate.
"I must've hit it when I was grabbing my glass." He replied, making my eyebrows furrow. I stood up as Tanya passed my a napkin. Marcus got out of the booth with a smirk on his face as I walked to the bathroom.
"If Zoe can't have a nice meal with me there that's fine."
