I met Sam at the bank where I work today. "What brings u here?" I asked. "Just asking about a loan. Club's not doing so well. Needs repairs & we're celebrating its anniversary." he replied. "Oh. Call me when u decide on a date to throw the anniversary party!" I exclaimed, cheerfully. "Sure! So,heard u got married. Oh! Is this ur new husband?" he asked, gesturing to a photo on my desk. "Yeah. That's Johann. We're expecting our first child." I replied, gesturing to my baby bump. "Oh! & look at ya, still working! I always knew u were a hard worker & u haven't changed!" he complimented. I blushed. I felt sorry for him. He was such a sweet, funny guy & deserved to find someone who loved him as much as he loved that club. "U know, I could set u up with one of my friends. She's pretty funny & I think u'd like her..." I offered. "Whoa, lady! I don't have time for dates! I've a club to run!" he interrupted. "U could show her around the club as a date. I'm sure she'd like that! Please do it for me!" I pleaded. "The club's a place where people come to laugh, not to love!" he explained. "It's either this or...u 2 could come to Johann's piano concert tonight." I suggested, knowing his reaction. "Fine! Send her to the club at around 5 p.m. She'd better like stand-up comedy!" he agreed,before hurrying out.
