🍴 Alison's P.O.V. 🍴
"I'm going to miss this place." I sighed as I took another bite of my pancakes.
It was Friday afternoon and we were all eating at Ben's. There is only three more weeks left before school ends and I'm really trying to make to most out of it. Every day after school, I would invite them to have sleepovers or movie nights at my house. I mean, when I knew I was moving to California, I stayed at Hailey's house for almost a month, trying to spend all my time with her because I knew we wouldn't get that much time to hang-out when I'm in another state. Her parents didn't complain about it because they both love me and treat me like their own daughter, although I can't say the same for Hunter. He was pretty pissed off when he knew I was going to stay there for a while because Hailey and I aren't really the most quiet people to be around with, and the walls in Hailey's house is very thin. I don't think he ever got a decent sleep when I was around because he'd always wake up with a cranky attitude.
"You sound like it's the end of the world." Liam commented.
"It feels like it. I mean, I'm graduating in a few weeks, and just imagining not having this delightful pancakes every other day kills me."
"I thought I could compete with the pancakes. I guess not." Tyler said, eyeing me.
I laughed. "Yeah, you can never compete with these." I gestured towards my pancakes.
Everyone chuckled, and Tyler glared at them, causing them to shut up.
"So Alison, when is your call back?" Alex asked, changing the subject.
"Tomorrow afternoon. I'm not really expecting on getting the part. I have no experience whatsoever, so I'm not keeping my hopes up."
"You said that when you first auditioned, but look, you got a call back. They wouldn't call you back if they didn't see anything in you." Tyler said.
"Yeah, but why would they hire a rookie if they could book a movie star?"
"Hey, every great Hollywood stars started being a rookie, but people hired them because they saw talent and potential. Who said they didn't see that in you?" Kate pointed out.
"I guess you're right. Let's just keep our fingers cross." I put crossed my fingers up for all of them to see.
"And toes." Zack added.
I nodded. "And toes." I repeated.
*'*'*'*'*'*'*'*'*'*'*'*'*'*
"I'll be waiting for you outside, okay?" Tyler reminded me. Today, was the call back, and since only a few people were left, I was sure that it wouldn't take that long anymore since it's by alphabetical orders and my last name does start with a 'B'.
I nodded.
"Good Luck." He gave me a kiss in the forehead before I stepped out of the car.
I took a deep breath before entering the building. The auditions were being held on the third floor, so I took the elevator up. As I stepped out, the nervousness hit me real hard. I just realized that this is a big deal; one wrong move can make a difference of a life time. I have to do great or else all this effort I put into will be put to waste, and many people are counting on me on this. Hailey even made me a banner, I'd be sad if I didn't really get the part. Tyler even practiced some scenes with me as well, even if he wasn't that much of a professional, he still tries to give me some criticism, so I'd do better the next time.
"Alison." I saw a familiar face, waving at me. I then realized that it was Shauna. She was trying for the leading role as well, but she's really nice and helped give me some pointers since she knew it was my first time. I've actually seen her in commercials and some movies as well, but mostly she played an extra or roles that weren't really that significant. I'm actually surprised she wasn't as snobby as the others. She still remains very humble even if she has a lot of experience. She's very pretty as well; I don't think I can compete with her beauty. She told me that her mom was a known model while his dad was an actor back in the old days, so it was like she was born to be an actress/ model.
"Shauna, you got a call back as well." I said, giving her a hug.
"Yup, I'm actually surprised because this is the first time I tried auditioning for such a big role, but when I heard that my favourite book was being turned to a movie, I just couldn't resist." She gave me a genuine smile.
"I'm surprised too that I got a call back as well. I'm thinking maybe it's because of all the pointers you gave me. It helped me a lot." I siad, sitting next to her.
"I see that you have talent, and you're not as bitchy as the other girls who auditioned for this part, so even if I don't get it at least I can have someone else to depend on."
"I don't think I'll get the part. I don't have that much experience as much as you do." I said truthfully.
"Honey, in my first audition, the directors didn't even gave me a second glance because I was a nobody, so even if you get the part or not, be proud of yourself because you got this far on your first try."
"I am proud of myself."
"Alison Baskett?" The girl called.
"That's me." I tell Shauna as I got up from my seat.
"Good luck."
I smiled.
I enter the room to see the directors. I was lucky that the directors in this movie wasn't as scary as I thought they'd be because I know that people can be huge jerks when they have the power and money to be.
"Alison, it's nice to see you again." The main director, Jerry, said to me.
"You too." I tried too be as polite as I can be.
"Now, Alison, I looked through your resume and noticed that you don't have any experience yet." I frowned a bit, I was kind of expecting this to happen. "But we love your look and your acting is great, so we would like you try out for Madison instead."
I sighed in relief. Madison was the lead role's best friend. It is a big role even if it wasn't the leading, it was still better than nothing.
"We just can't risk putting the biggest role in the hands of a rookie. We're really sorry."
"No, it's okay. I didn't really expect to get the best role without experience, so it's totally fine. I'm just happy, I got this far."
Jerry smiled. "Here is your new script." He handed it to me, and I took it. "Take your time." He said.
I took a deep breath as I got into character and started reading my lines.
*'*'*'*'*'*'*'*'*'*'*
"How was it?" Tyler asked. He was waititng for me in the lobby.
"It was okay, they made me try for Madison instead." I told him, as we exited the buliding.
"But you auditioned for Emily not Madison. That is so unfair. They should have told you in advance, so you at least get time to practice."
"It isn't really a big deal. Things like this happens all the time, and as an actress, you have to adapt to these things faster." We made our way to the car.
"Are you sad they made you try out for Madison?" He unlocked the car, as we both got in.
"No, Madison is still a main character. I'll be happy playing her." I got my seatbelt on, as Tyler turned on the engine.
"But didn't you want to play Emily?" He asked.
"I do, but sometimes you don't always get what you want, and you just have to settle for the next best thing." I tell him truthfully.
"Okay, so where do you want to go next?" He asked me as we got out of the parking lot.
"Well, there is this smoothie place that Kate and I went to." I suggested.
"I thought you were going to say pancakes."
I laughed. "Not today."
