I fiddled with my fingers as I waited with Colby in the waiting room so we could get going with my surgery. I kept my head down. I heard people whispering back and forth, my heart started to race. My hands started to get more clammy then they are now even if that's physically impossible. I'm excited, scared, and nervous. What if the surgery goes wrong? What does Colby look like? I know what Colby looks like by a little bit but what if I'm totally wrong? What if Colby isn't anything I have imagined. My breathing becomes heavy and I started to tap my foot repeatedly on the leg of my chair. I felt a large warm hand clamp onto my knee."Calm down." Colby whispered into my ear, his hot breath slamming onto my unhumanly cold skin.
"Okay." I breathed out shakily.
Colby's right, I should calm down. I sigh and run my hands over my face obviously frustrated with myself.
"Hey, don't worry I'll be right here when you wake up don't worry." Colby says to me rubbing circles on the tip of my knee.
I just nod and lay my head on his shoulder letting out another sigh. My mom is on the other side of me texting away just for your information.
"Miss Brooks." I heard a voice call.
My mom and I both stood up leaving Colby in the waiting room.
"Wait, I need Col-"
"Sorry sweetie I'm gonna have to ask you to sit down." The nurse said to me in a bitter voice.
"Okay." I reply softly feeling something go over my face and a large hand slide into my hand. I heard familiar clunky foot steps walk towards the side of my hospital bed.
"I love you, to the moon and back." I heard a voice whisper, but I couldn't tell if it was Colby or my mom.
-
I sat up and looked around. I still couldn't see.
"Mom?! Colby?!" I yelled as I sat in the empty hospital room.
"How could you!" I heard Colby shrieks in my ear in all directions.
"I will never love you." My mom screamed in reply to my tears.
I felt icing thick tears race down my face.
"Please don't leave me." I whispered.
"It's to late." Colby said in a raspy voice.
Both my mom and Colby's voice disappeared as I sat in my dark thoughts.
-
"Lindsey." I heard a voice whisper.
I smiled in relief as I knew that the scene that just happens was just a dream. I tried opening my eyes but I couldn't.
"Why can't I open my eyes." I say confused. "Did the surgery work?" I ask
dumbfounded."Miss Brooks I would like you to stay clam but you have to wait twenty four hours for your eyes to heal then most likely you'll me able to see for the first time!" My Physical Therapist said with a lot of enthusiasm.
"Okay, can I at least see my mom and Colby." I sigh.
"They are in the room right now actually." My doctor said as I felt a large hand softly lay on top of my smaller one.
I smiled and relaxed.
"I'll leave you guys alone." The doctor said to us.
"How are you Sunflower?" Colby said once the doctor left the room.
