32. You're Deaf

You are currently getting ready for your date with your boyfriend Niall, for your six month anniversary.  He was so supportive of you, and even picked up sign language (yes, you're deaf) , showing that he really wanted your relationship to work.  The rest of One Direction knew, you had met them a couple times before, they were hesitant but supportive, but none of the fans knew.  On the one hand, you think it would be a great platform to help people learn more about deafness, but on the other hand, you don't want people bullying you and Niall because of it.

The lights flicked off, once, then twice.  Twice meant it was Niall ringing the doorbell.  You hurry to let him in, greeting him with a big smile.  He grins back, and hands you flowers before signing how beautiful you look.  You blush and comment that his signing is getting better.

The two of you enjoyed an uninterrupted meal before heading over to Liam's place to hang out.  When he first suggested the idea of going to Liam's after your date, you a bit put off wanting to spend your anniversary with just Niall, but you agreed seeing no harm in it and realizing that he wasn't being insensitive.

At Liam's, Liam greets you with a hug and kiss on the cheek, before signing "Come in.  Welcome."

You're a bit surprised, because you didn't think that Liam knew any sign language.  You follow him and Niall into the living room where Harry and Louis are chilling.

They both greet you in sign language before giving you a hug.   For the next hour or so as they talk, almost everything they say to you is in ASL (American Sign Language).  Dumbfounded, you can only smile and sign back.

Eventually you do ask and sign at the same, "What's happening?  I didn't know that you knew ASL."

The boys all look to Niall who shrugs and signs.  "I taught them some, so you could have a conversation in your language."

Your eyes well up with tears.  That's so sweet, you think as you look at your amazing boyfriend in front of you.  You want tell him how much that means to you but all you can sign is a simple "Thank you."
