Monsters

You were always told about the monsters,
With pointy claws and sharp teeth,
Hidding under your bed waiting to eat your feet.
But nobody told you about the ones just like you.
Made of flesh and bones, blood in their veins,
Who came out of a womb.
They are just like you and me,
Playing hide and seek with us.
We can't tell them apart from another human,
Because every single of their traits make it look like they are.
But if you look deep inside,
You won't see any thing in their eyes,
No emotion, no pity, no feelings.
That's because they were built without a soul,
Knowing how to replicate every tasks a human could do,
But ignoring what we have that is most precious : a conscience.

From time to time those robots might come out,
With a blood-thirsty smile, ready for slaughter
But they will soon discover,
That we, humans are wearing an armor.
They may bring a country to its knee and hurt its people,
But even with this pain and those nightmares, we'll still live on.
